dryslot
I know some joked about me being crabby yesterday, but being pessimistic is the way to go. That's how it is this winter around here, especially for you and I. I loathe it. You actually have stayed pretty even kiel thru this whole process the last few days until you flinched a little earlier this am......lol
weathafella
We're paying for a run of good seasons.......this being the first severe dead ratter in 5 years for SNE and maybe longer for NNE outside of far northern areas which can claim 2 years ago. CoastalWx
You actually have stayed pretty even kiel thru this whole process the last few days until you flinched a little earlier this am......lol It's frustrating, but it's the Holidays and there are more important things. I'm lucky to have things going well for me right now. I do have tendencies where I just want to vent a little frustration...lol, but what are you going to do. I'm going up north next week so hopefully they'll be some snow. Enjoy the snow up there..should be a decent event for you on into the higher terrain of central and wrn mass. That's how it is this winter around here, especially for you and I. I loathe it. It's just astounding to have it in the 50s again multiple days in a row. I'm walking around in a tshirt in late December and contemplating mowing the lawn. This is so stupid. It is what it is and it give me more time to be more balanced vs obsessing and refreshing every 13 seconds for hours on end. I've been on the pain train since mid November but I'll start to lose it by the time I'm back in early January if it still looks like as*. I fully expect 10-15 day progs by 1/1ish to show a transition. If they don't stuff winter. Not sure if its a consolation but MET puts 1 in the BOS snow number from the OES potential I guess... I'm not as confident as you that Boston won't get an inch. Eventually one of these systems has to overperform on the backside, maybe this is the one. CoastalWx
Thanks, Where are you going next week? Just up to my folks place in Center Harbor NH. Probably won't do too much, but it will be nice to get away. Maybe skiing at Gunstock.

CoastalWx
FWIW the SPC WRF would be really nice for those that stay snow. It has a nice mid level frontogenesis band that cuts into nrn ORH county and srn NH. It has a good 6hr thump or so for the rest of SNE, but some heavy echoes in there. CoastalWx
Well we'll see what the euro says for those that will get snow. I still want to think that ORH could get 2-3" with some nice upslope cooling going on. This isn't like 12/07 of this year when we needed downslope nw winds. N-NE winds should help the hills I think. A plus for them.

Typhoon Tip
A few OT tidbits.... 19 of initial 22 days of December above normal at BOS/ORH. Tomorrow should make it 20 and perhaps running the table into next week. Unbefuknbelievable... Tomorrow's high should be at midnight, tonight; tomorrow's low at midnight tomorrow night for many locales in SNE. I was mentioning this to Kevin in PM - the problem with this event seems to be a huge lag in the CAA. We have cleared the board with thunder and associated cfropa earlier today, and it's warming not cooling post. Just going by the 12z NAM FRH grid from BOS, looks like the CAA comes in on top of the action tomorrow. Even BOS rains in that prog for the first half of this thing. But by 3 or 4 in the afternoon it won't seem so "Unbefuknbelievable". If the blend of the priors works back in, even more so. I'm sort of on the fence as to where we are heading... The tropical forcing is against us ...yes, but there are some tantilizing AO signals (early as they may be) that could mute. I'd have to lean warmer than normal, though, until that that gets more obvious. We have gone through a pattern change that is more subtle than folks want - no doubt. We have registered a couple of negative departures over the last week, and now having any snow at all in the forecast are circumstances the previous "pattern" never would have achieved. Point being, we don't have to have an ideal teleconnector spread to cash in here and there. There is wiggle room...
Mr Torchey
I am impressed how far west and amped this system looks on radar, just was looking at the meso site and its beyond toasty across sne, looks like some low 60s today across the south coast an ne along the coastal plain of mass, simply incredible, already 58 here. In the end I think Pete starts as rain, and maybe hard pressed to get more than an inch.
