Ottawa Blizzard
Judging by the weather in St. Petersburg and Moscow this Fall, we should all be grateful that the weather wasn't like this in the Fall of 1941 or the Germans may have been able to achieve victory on the eastern front. Both cities have been torching with barely any of the famed Russian cold. The winter of 1941-42 was apparently unusually severe and set in unusually early, contrary to what many history books would have us believe when they make it sound like every Russian winter sees temperatures of -40 as early as November in Moscow. Apparently it was unprecedented in records going back to the 17th century for western Russia to experience three severe winters in a row. Mother Nature may very well have been on the side of the Allies.
