baroclinic_instability
Wow! NWS ARX: .NOW... THROUGH 11 PM...LIGHT SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP FROM WEST TO EAST WITH A BAND OF HEAVIER SNOW FALLING FROM ROCHESTER EAST SOUTHEAST TOWARD BOSCOBEL. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS WILL RANGE FROM A QUARTER OF AN INCH TO AROUND AN INCH ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION...THOUGH SOME HIGHER AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE UNDER THE NARROW HEAVY SNOW BAND. THIS SNOW IS ACCUMULATING ON ROADS AND HAS CAUSED HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. Might have to do some exposures to capture the slowly descending cloud ceiling. We are joking around, but it it these events which can make a big difference. After working in the road weather forecasting sector this was the event that we busted the most often. Getting caught off guard on the road is no picnic. 2.5" at Spring Valley, MN. I bet this snow has some "fluff" to it.

michsnowfreak
Was in Frankenmuth today, and there were still a few old plow piles from the Nov 30th storm, which are solid ice now. Though we have lucked into 4-6" of snow in the immediate Detroit area this season, none of it has required plowing or even really shoveling. Will be nice once we see plow piles lining the streets finally. I was actually glad to see a dirty pile of icy snow lol.

I was in Frankenmuth last weekend and luckily they still had snow covering the ground. A trip to Frankenmuth is just not the same without snow on the ground. I absolutely love taking 3 day weekends up there though. Can't beat a chicken dinner at Zehnders and a delicious pizza & beer at the Brewery. Yeah, I'm tired of these clippers now all missing south and west of here.

This clipper has really started winter off, and it wasn't even known about a couple days ago. Really shows how the forecast can change.

IWXwx
You know its a boring winter when were seeing pics of a dusting of snow... ...in Canada!! Y'all yanks wanna see another picture of how much dustier that there snow is on the box with wheels parking spot? It's like snowmaggedon 2011 out here. Make like Mel Lastman and call in the Canadian Forces! I'm down here huddled in the basement with my cat, heavy band about to impact. God speed, Waterloo... god speed... http://www.weatherof...x_e.html?id=WSO Thanks for playing along with my lame attempt at humor. After I posted this I was hoping that no one thought that i was being serious. It is funny though that if you ask many Americans the first thing they think when you day Canada is snow and cold. By the way, I hope you're safe and warm It looks the precip associated with the impulse that buried turtle and Madtown will slide to my north. I was hoping lake enhancement would help me see some snow, but it's looking like it's taking the wrong trajectory. However, I have my camera ready for a DAB. Chicago WX
I never have been on the weather forums when the lack of snow caused such posting. We need a storm now mother stupid. A storm to purify the souls of all these downtrodden weather weenies. Even a 2-4 inch clipper would do. It was like this in 2001-02. Of course we were a much smaller group back in those days. It was still ugly though...especially with all the hype by most mets that that winter was going to be cold and snowy.
roardog
This pattern wouldn't be as bad if it wasn't so dry. At least there are cold shots mixed in with the torches. A year like 2006 didn't even have that.
