Yea GFS/NAM aren't looking bad so far..any snow at this point would be a win since alot of us haven't seen much of anything so far this month.Sent from my SPH-D710

wont take much... need just a bit more cold air to feel safe in Flora, but looks good for most of central illinois...

The Fall summary is in from the University of Waterloo.

Waterloo, ON

  Quote

"There was only 5 cm(2") of snow recorded this fall which is much less than the average of 30

cm(12"). The fall of 1998 was the last time we have seen anything like this, as that year we

only had 2 cm(0.8")."

Madison is getting blowing snow, nothing here :(

Well snow is falling above Racine County according to the radar. Lower levels might be a bit dry still. A few 25 dBz returns east of Madison.

Edit: I think a lot of this is virga. --SN here.

I guess you had to be at South Street Smokehouse at 2PM today. :D I'm pretty sure they were snowflakes...

Hehe, nice. I've been sitting around inside all day.

Looks like some very light returns showing up on the Chicago radar moving into Iroquois county. Maybe some flurries overnight?

Yeah, maybe. Flurries are a big event this winter, thus far. We better not miss them if it happens.

Moderate SN right now, and a nice dusiting accumulating on the roads and pavement. Won't complain...

All models had 0 qpf, but the NWS expected we may see a few flurries north of Detroit....what happens? Light to moderate snow falls for 3 hours or so. I was in Detroit during most of it and it was coming down good, huge dendrites and all. I estimate 0.7-0.8" where i was. Roads on the way home were skating rinks and saw several spinouts, had to do 35-40mph on the freeway. When I got home, just 0.2" imby and i can tell we didnt have the big dendrites, but still roads have that scary shiny look in the tire tracks. Its not a traditional white Christmas, but surprise snow on Christmas Eve is a good thing!

Wasn't expecting more than flurries tonight, but a three-hour period of -SN out of nowhere put down almost 1" of pillow fluff. It's too bad it came a day too early, it looks really nice out there.

Same thing happened here at KDTW, nice dendrites too.

I look at the 6z GFS and I think......hope. First time all winter.

I can't get myself to look at the gfs outside the weenie IPS Meteostar for QPF.. Leaching off the free Storm Vista loophole since I can't log in it looks pretty decent for the the far NE.. Don't like the look for things here. Looks like same ole stuck on the west side of the trough winter coming up, blah.

Oops. Sorry. If I knew how to use that spoiler tag I would have spared you.

lol, no you're good. I'm not completely voiding myself of this place or weather talk....just no looking into the ensembles or anything for myself for awhile.

It's northern stream dominant, so there's not a lot of big time storms. But it's cold at least and features a lot of clippers. -NAO signature, which helps me out here more than it helps you further to the west.

I'm not buying it obviously. It's just one run of the GFS. But it is nice to look at that model through 16 days and not want to gouge my eyes out.

Good for you. I know looking at the models med range is like being hooked on crack for us weenies, so I applaud your fortitude. I was going to do the same but that damn Tuesday storm sucked me back in, like you said. Weak will.

Watching the local news this morning is so nauseating as the anchor and weather "person" claim how great it is that it's going to be a warm and sunny Christmas. I guess we're in the minority for yearning for snow and cold.

Probably the same person who just loves cool downs in the summer...
