Stormlover74
I would lower the amounts. I'd say 6 or 7 is the max so maybe 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7 or greater? I don't know what the record for 6" events is in a season but even 95-96 had 5 I believe. Let's see what everyone thinks
earthlight
I'd say 1 time, maybe two.
nycsnow
I'd say 1 time, maybe two. I agree with you, do you know where I can find how many 6+ snowfalls NYC has had yearly?
Stormlover74
I'm not sure where I saw it but there is a site that lists all the measurable snowfalls by year. on the NWS climate page it lists all the 6" snowfalls since 1969. No winter saw more than 4. I agree with you, do you know where I can find how many 6+ snowfalls NYC has had yearly?

We have been able to get at least one a winter season with the exception of the late 90's and 2001-2002 with 2007 close. http://www.erh.noaa....ixplussnow.html
Stormlover74
Yeah but that was a sleetfall...which I suppose we have to count We have been able to get at least one a winter season with the exception of the later 90's and 2001-2002. 2007 was really close. http://www.erh.noaa....ixplussnow.html

nycsnow
We've had no more then 4 in a season so if we manage 2 sounds like a pretty average winter in NYC

Sundog
Suppressed storms can happen, but I don't think this will be an eventful winter for any of the East coast cities. Of course they can, but this year we're having a hard time suppressing them south of the Canadian border lol. I can't see the PV dropping south like in 09-10 anytime soon. I wish It would because we both did good that year.
