It's going to be nip and tuck on my bet with Jerry. I'm losing confidence.

GFS has signaled two events for days around the 20th and 25th. Something will likely occur around that time with details TBD.

Yeah, I wast just commenting on that storm around the 25th, The signal has been there on the last few runs of a couple of chances between the 21-25th YTBD.

Good morning, was a frosty one this AM. Think we finally got some frost in the ground to freeze them damn bugs, about time.

One of the readings I take at 0700 is the ground temp at -4" & -8". It never fails to amaze me how it fluctuates at other times of the year, but as it approaches 3-4°C, it slows down like a snail. Three mornings in a row I've been down in the teens and the temp yesterday at -4" went from 36.9°F to 36.5°F. It'll do that for a week if it's below freezing before reading below 32°. If it get's warm, it will just bounce back up though. Go figure.

I'm glad too...I'm wondering how far down the frost will go if we don't get any snow?

A board Randy created solely for offtopic. You go there and more than half the talk is about SNE. Mch of it from folks who claim to be your friends..yet go in there and backstab us. 2 names I will call out on that are OSU and Aviation Dave

Lol please give me a break. I mentioned your name once when you were upset about the boArd look. Go find someone else to use as a scapegoat.

I'm telling you, winter begins when I land! (20th) wink.png

In all seriousness, damn the NCEP site is slow for me

Necep site was real slow for me to

Just an FYI & as an alternative, I have a job that runs after the model runs complete that downloads some of the images to my site so you can see the individual maps or animations. I don't have all the maps but most of the NAM & GFS suites.

Seems like that's the general timeframe of our next widespread snowfall

As long as it's after the 21st. I'm driving with my family to western PA on the 20th. There's been a signal for something around that time frame for several runs and as others have said, we'll probably see something. Perhaps this is the beginning of the end for this pattern?

Details need to be worked out but pretty strong signal the last few runs on the Euro, The model that "Really" matters....wink.png

Looks like our christmas storm just starting to take shape at the end of the run over the western carolinas

I bookmarked it a few months ago...

Thanks...I kind of tweaked it since then to remove links that were just for me and since I was tired of digging through the NCEP site for an animation or other map so I just worked out a way to have them separate. It's more of a hobby for me but I hope it's helpful...I still need to fix "issues" that crop up from time to time. Let me know if you ever see something or think I should add something.

Nothing like that here...38 was the high and still mostly white outside.

No official wx station here, but these are the approximate highs over the last week....

Wed 36 (cold rain to snow) Thur and Fri - upper 30s, Sat and Sun 30-32, Mon 39, today 38

Teens on four mornings...13 being the lowest.

Made it up to 47F today, unreal warmth continues.

Even though we've only cooled to "slightly above average"...its still a nice change to feel sort of like winter the last few days and nights...while out a little while ago for a quick run to the market, definitely had to put the coat and hat on with temps dropping into the 20s during the evening.

One more torch with this next event, but then we might have a few chances after that....hopefully we can cash in on one of them. Its been too long to track realistic snow (>4")...but even a 1-3" duster would be nice.

It does look more promising in the next couple of weeks weatherwise in New England then it has over the last few weeks with all the warmer temps and rain, We should be able to cash in on 1 of these next potential events..
