I'm friends with Kush too...but I know that his trolling has gotten to some of the stafff and they've decided enough is enough. I have made mention that I thought the crude humor...while funny...was not appropriate for the weather-side. Just an opinion...I'm sure there are different thoughts on this. #NoPoles Posted December 13, 2011 Share Posted December 13, 2011 ok, stop with the DBM talk...that has no bearing on the rules or the code of conduct expected out of the members of Amwx...two totally different boards...i have been a member at dbm for a while...the shout turned into a place for a collection of negative energy that spread to whoever logged on...it became a place for the disruptive users to discuss ways to specifically target SNE because you guys took the bait EVERY TIME, and added to the drama in OT...your best response would have been to ignore the crap, and let them argue with themselves and look like momons...because we all know it was a bunch of useless crap from a handful of posters who had lost any interest in being contributing, productive members of this forum... the rules on this forum haven't change...and this forum doesn't revolve around SNE...Bob doesn't deserve the static y'all have been giving him we have a good subforum, with contributing productive members...we are the only ones that have regular g2g's...we have created friendships that have carried over outside the boundaries of this forum...this is a good place... I could care less about all the azz holes in OT. if any of the admin on this board had any balls they would simply shut down OT once and for all. If it didn't exist, all of this BS wouldn't have happened in the first place. instead their answer is to let it go and not moderate it as if that is going to work. Good call What I am saying this SNE forum has always been a fun, enjoyable place and it hasn't caused anyone any angst, or done anything detrimental to the board. The other folks don't want to see that stuff, they don't care, and when they see it, it becomes the ole', "those sne folks are way too serious about snow with their suicide posts", etc. Then, you know where it goes from there - all out turf war, "why is sne ruining ot", etc. When that stuff is posted here, in a lighthearted manner, it eventually just goes away, after the storm, or threat is gone, with no one thinking anything of it until the next threat. In OT it just becomes more reason to keep the turf war going, and from what Ian posted over there, it will be the wild wild west, so anything goes. What?!?! Where are you getting this stuff from? I have no problem with trying to keep this place clean... particularly since I use it at work most of the time. I do think there's a natural reaction to project a lot of the crap that happens in OT onto this forum. I personally rarely, if ever, go into OT so I normally aren't aware of any of the drama/BS. Just sitting in the subforum most of the time I have to say things are going pretty well here. I hope the usual suspects who thrive off board drama, regional infighting, and trolling haven't tried to drag us through the mud with them. Who cares about what folks in OT say about SNE? Staff doesn't. We don't take cues from OT on how to moderate this or any other forum. I'm not sure why Kevin or anybody else is trying to link the two. The only time i've seen issues spill over is someone from SNE posts stuff from the OT side of the board. I think Randy is being legit here...some of that crude **** that's posted is funny...but there is some concern about it's appropriateness. What's good for the 15 or so regular posters might not be the best way to facilitate growth of quality posters and meteorologists. How would you like it if someone from your staff or let's say your NWS Office walked up to you at a meeting and said "hey you participate in this site where they're talking about co** rings and everything else in OT".... You guys are all drawing some distinction between OT and the subforums as if it matters. I'm going to guess it doesn't. It's like going to a strip joint to use the wifi on company time. Not quite the same as going to Starbucks. Let's face it there's a ton of us here on not our own personal time. That's all fine, but I fail to see this false mental construction that separates the weather side from OT. IMO it doesn't matter and moderating that less isn't going to solve anything.
