I agree about the snow part. The kids don't want to play outside unless there is snow.

Too bad about the snow tubes. They look like they would be fun

I have a very different opinion on cold in the absence of snow. I will take more wintery weather any ilk over something less wintery. But, to each their own.

Oh. I am in your boat. I just want snow.

But cold is fine, too. Today is fine. Skiing later. What was up in Maine?

My in-laws live up here. They followed us when we moved here 7 years ago. We returned 3 years later to Mass, and they stayed. So, we're doing a Christmas visit. Got to see their new home--awesome spot overlooking the Kennebec. Returning to the Pit tomorrow.

A heavy dusting but not what was hoped for. Am I right in guessing MP3 needs a septic system to fall into title 5 compliance?

You would be correct, sir.

We're up here in Maine where MP1 is located. We just saw that it received an award from the historical sociey for it's maintenance of its historic elements. The funny thing is is that the woman who "won" the award hadn't done anything to the place since we sold it to her. To the owner go the spoils. :)

Mike, how much did the Bath area get? I saw the mid-coast on northward did pretty well. Just wondering.

I'm sure you know this but don't accept an allowance for a new system in the deal should you go forward. I'm not sure you can even structure it that way anymore. In any event, I have seen a few people that take , say, a $12,000 allowance for the installation of a new system but once the actual design/construction occurs post sale the costs come in considerably higher. Actually, I think those cases were in NYS, I think in Mass the system now has to be in compliance at the time of sale, Nevermind.lol

OVC and cold here today. 32F. You would think it was gonna snow tomorrow. :axe:

Had to truck in $10K of sand here to satisfy the Board of Health. Drainage/septic fields here cannot have much of any slope and you have to level it off. The land drops out back ...you know... below that 1000 foot level. ;)

You can't get a building permit here until the septic system has been designed and approved. Also the well has to be certified to produce at least 4 gallons per minute in this area....so you have to drill and take your risks before the give you a permit to build.

Finally got some snow for the December Obs Thread... the town is just beautiful right now with snow covered woods and sunshine this afternoon.

What's funny is the tourists have absolutely no idea what just happened... everyone is saying, "But I don't get it, there was no snowstorm and the ground was bare for 90% of my drive from Boston." I tried explaining the whole upslope snow phenomenon and they just look at you like you have three heads.

Looks great! Seems like it may move in as snow up there later tomorrow..maybe you can get a few inches as an extra protection against the rain that follows. Then upslope behind it.

Yeah I'm not too hopeful for the front end, but maybe. I think NW flow enhancement behind the system should be ok... BTV is forecasting 4-7" across the upslope region on the backside so I still think this may be a net gain if we are lucky.

How's it looking in your area Rick? I gotta get over to the NY state thread as its been a while since that region saw a good synoptic snowstorm. Looks really good from the Tug up into the Saint Lawrence Valley.

Euro fantasy snow maps started you as a couple inches...maybe not too credible.

Just rain here, barring some shocking shift. I really don't think even western NY gets more than a few inches given the mild airmass in place and too slow deepening of the low. Maybe MSS will be the winner in NY.

Hmm .. I just noticed that BTV is calling for FZRA and PL overnight there ...at the level of the ski resort...

This is for an existing home. The design's been drawn up and approved. Still much to assess and consider on this. But, we're still talking about it, so that says something.

Stowe is awesome! Lots of fluffy powder... Went for a great hike today. Can't wait for some upslope Wednesday!

Haha nice dude... shoot me a text in the morning if you want to take some turns. I'm usually free before 11am unless something operationally is happening that is unexpected, haha.

Glad we got some snow for your trip... Tuesday night will be interesting. I'm worried about ZR at the higher elevations... even during these situations we tend to hold cold air at like 2-4k feet on the east side of Mansfield with ripping south winds above the ridgeline.

We are going to run the FourRunner Quad and Gondola haul ropes all night long to avoid any icing issues on Wednesday morning. Sucks for the four operators that need to sit at the top and bottom of each lift ALL NIGHT LONG and just watch the rope go round and round and round.

I think some areas like ART and the western Adirondacks will get more than a few inches. The low is in the 980s and they are much closer to the cold high pressure. My aunt lives in Cape Vincent, NY right near Lake Ontario and close to ART, and I think she will do well.

Are you back from AK Sam?

Yeah, I was only there for a couple of days. It was amazing though! I can't wait to be back in the summer. Lots of hiking and climbing to be done. Really a unique landscape.

The trip back was horrible though ... not near Alaska ... from Newark. My flight to Manchester was cancelled three times. I ended up taking the train. Took me a total of 44 hours to get home.

Were you sequestered in ANC or did you get out of town at all?
