40/70 Benchmark
11.5F....really cold tonight. This is the type of night I might be 6F colder than the airport. But radiational cold is superficial...I'll be happier when this stuff actually means something. Are you in a bit of an elevated valley, Will... ORH_wxman
12.8/10 You'll prob catch up to and pass me pretty quickly over the next 3 hours..that usually happens in these setups. I'll cool off quick early on (airport just can't do it with their wind patterns) and then I'll come to a screeching halt on a hill while everyone else keeps cooling. Won't surprise me if you are 9F in 3 hours while I'm at 10F....close to now it is often the time I'll see it bottom...maybe another degree if I'm lucky. ORH_wxman
Are you in a bit of an elevated valley, Will... No basically on the side of a hill..but closer to the top than the bottom..so I'll get a bit of cooling, but it usually bottoms out very early in the night. Still more than the airport though in this type of setup.

Im at 15.8 on top of a hill, this is the type of night I can go 2 miles down the road to my brothers and he'll be several degrees colder in the morning. NorEastermass128
Funny how the 0z GFS didn't wake up the masses like it normally would come mid-late Dec. It's as if it's mid Oct and the 00z GFS is showing a snowstorm 5-6 days out. In an active pattern...we'd be adding 1 page/5 mins to this thread. That said, any support? 40/70 Benchmark
At least we aren't going to torch on xmas...or a rainer. In this winter, that is a win.

We have an outside shot at it...but I'm not biting yet. But I've been keeping my eye on he "SNE Christmas Eve Miracle" for a few days...I just don't think it will happen, but I fully admit its possible. That's the type of storm we can get away with here on occasion in a bad pattern.

Yeah I would never get emotionally invested in this "threat"...it might happen...but probably not. Our latitude might save us in that one if it works. Logan11
Interesting that the GFS actually has a 1038 high to the north next weekend dominating rather than the endless Bermuda high. An almost unheard of thing this winter. I wonder what prompts this ..maybe some transient upstream blocking? If it's wrong and we revert to form..the xmas low is liable to be over ALB instead of south of ACK. Watch it wind up a Miller B-East...

CapturedNature
Nice morning out there. Currently 11°...up from the min of 8° around 0200...temp started "climbing" around 4. Looks like my Union station bottomed out at 6° With this cold and some chances of snow on the models, it's started to feel more like winter!
