Well clearly some are hostile given the pattern.

Kevin, looking at that meso map, you can see why it looked a little cold. I'm not being a dink head. If you are that cold, congrats.

What does he have? About 100-125ft on this station? http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KCTTOLLA4

May fall just short of breaking the double digit streak tomorrow...

 NORMAL FORECAST
ID HI LO HI LO DEP
----------------------
BOS 40 27 30 23 - 7
BDL 39 23 31 19 - 6
PVD 41 26 33 22 - 6
ORH 35 22 27 15 - 8

High temperature of 21 today..Now 19. So 9/21 mean of 15 ...could edge lower if we plummet for awhile after sunset.

A sea of arctic is an ocean of pacific air, but nice to have one substantial negative departure for a change.

12/25 here for a mean of 18.5 or about 9° below my 27 year normal.

After a cursory look at the climo stations above, several look like they hit the 10° below average but we'll see when the official reports comes out later. So the lack of a double digit below streak since 10/29 or 31 might be broken.

Certainly has felt like a good December weekend....minus having some snow on the ground.

Not to pile on but if Norfolk was 2-3F warmer than you at noon on a day like todya there's something wrong with your thermometers. The Norfolk ob is at 1400 ft.

And they were 20.6F at 1400ft at noon. So 2F.

Which station is at 1400'? The highest one I know of is at 1335' or there abouts.

16/1 here but I'm surprised my station in Union is down to 13/-2.

I know it's ORH's case that the departure might be lower because they were 27° at midnight. They may or may not be able to best their low by midnight.

If we went by daytime highs, those are pretty respectable numbers though but the streak lives on!

Yeah had a 21/29 day at my station in Old Lyme. First high in the 20s since the 29F high on March 3rd. Presently 21/5 - impressive cold for this early in the evening.

Yeah Norfolk is officially listed as 1340 feet.

This mesonet station is located near Childs Pond southwest of Norfolk center at just over 1400 ft. The coop is a bit lower.

I think I see what's happening...the MADIS site data says 1340' but when you look at the actual site on a topo map it's really the 1400' or so. The other station in town is the COOP I believe. I wonder why that station doesn't radiate well...seems to be surrounded by hills. My sugarbush in Union seems to drop like a rock at first, then level off for a few hours and then drop steadily. Days like today they start off the night cooler than here and just go down.

Down to 14° here...11 in Union.

you sure that union reading is right? It was way lower than me this morning, and now it's 5* lower than my location right now. Is your station the "Stickney Hill" one? I'm seeing 12F there, and 17+ nearly everywhere around it. Just seems weird...

I'm at 12º here, less than 10 miles southwest of Union.

Yeah, pretty sure. I have two sensors up there. One at the bottom of the hill and one about 50-75' from the top on a level area. The one at the top of the hill goes to MADIS and get's QC'd and so far it's two thumbs up. If anything, it runs warm during the day because of solar heating issues. I'm trying to figure out how to address that since there is no power and batteries would wear out too quickly.

The one at the bottom of the hill get's sent to Weather Underground and it's the one there labelled "Stickney Hill" after the road. That one sits in a bowl about 1050' surrounded by 1300' hills.

FWIW, I'm 14° in Stafford Springs at 650'. The high temp was 26° here and accounting for adiabatic cooling, it should be at least a couple of degrees cooler up there which would account for a 2-3° difference between here and there now.
