December Observation/ Weather Banter

I have important news for Jerry... Had two squirrels violently chirp at me today... It was kind of scary actually. They were both sitting on tree branches on their hind legs low in the trees showing their teeth. They were fat and acted extremely rabid.

Can you evaluate this Squirrel situation and how it affects our weather?

JUSTTTT in case you weren't already pissed off enough by the storm tomorrow bringing a warm (for December) rain...

it will also cause us to miss this awesome astronomical show..

The annoyances continue.

...but it's going to be so rediculously close to the sun that it probably wouldn't be visible anyway... it's not like Comet McNaught several years ago. Those pics from McNaught from the southern hemisphere were unbelievable!

1/4" of ice between 1,500ft-4,000ft this morning with a coating of IP/SN.

East side of Mansfield stayed below freezing through 11am. If we get a couple inches of upslope snow tomorrow morning this system may actually have a net gain as nothing is melting up at the ski resort thanks to the layer of ice protecting the snow now.

thats awesome i saved articles from 96 like that

Yeah I went to the Courant about a month ago to buy the first weeks worth of papers and went to a framer in Farmington to get them framed. I have a 5 pictures from the '89 tornado in Hamden framed which is 40" long and pretty sweet. Would love to get a bigger place with a home office someday soon!

You need a brass plaque made of the facebook post from CL&P (or whoever) saying how the mets screwed up...

Back to the crappy pattern. This is worse than Jerry's elephant. Now it is a whole herd

4 years ago today, it was me, Ekster (actually he was gone to sleep by this point), and Ray watching the blitz occur on the front end...we weren't yet worried about sleet...not for another hour or so.

12/16/07 will live in many Massachusetts weenie's hearts well. One of the bigger busts in the good direction. The sleet just took forever to overtake the 2" per hour snow rates.

Hard to imagine 10F and snow to start an event right now like we did in 2007 here and 13F at the brunt of it. This pattern makes it hard to imagine the cold that happens quite a lot in December....we wonder how highs can be less than 45F.

It's warm & windy this morning. Just had a 25mph wind gust roll through. FYI, the red readings in the map are gusts.

With the CAA, I daresay I think the ZFP highs in the lower 40's are a possible bust. Not sure if the weak sun can overcome that.

38.7/32

Not happening. If things don't improve substantially by month's end I'm leaving for AK. I've already been taking steps to make it so. This must be what Winter in the MA is like. Can you imagine if this was what most winters were like? How do they stomach living where it is warm and snowless? I'd just pull the truck into the garage, close the door, put some music in a minor key on and slowly slip away.

Temps cooling off nicely. Down to 42.3

Hopefully the winds today knock down some more of the dangling branches

I'm sure they might....I had a gust a little while ago nearly as strong as anything I saw during Irene. I'm not sure though that they will lead to widespread outages.

I'm still trying to clear out my woods in Somers and have a large branch hanging over my sugarhouse.
