It'd be nice to have a need to look at the SREFs or NAM.

Ho hum.

Too bad the board never crashes when we are picking dingleberries off our arses. Even the cutters suck, give me a 950 blowing into CHI at least so we can disrupt the pattern. This is like being stuck in a hospital bed with General Hospital, or As The Stomach Turns on, you can not reach the remote and the nurse will not answer the buzzer. brutal

What a disaster. As if this wx isn't bad enough..so much crap to deal with at home. Among 50 other minor crap things, my neighbors sink flooded upstairs. Nothing like listening to water trickle in from the bathroom ceiling fan. WTF. By some miracle, it appears there is not water damage.

If you heard water trickle in from the bathroom ceiling fan, than I'm going to guess yes to water damage. It may be minor, involving some drywall work, but you may also want to make sure the wiring in the immediate area is o.k. Water is tricky. Just because it drips in one place doesn't mean that it didn't travel some obscure path to get there.

I know..I looked all over. Apparently, the newer drywall board has a layer that is somewhat water resistant which is what I have. The water actually came in from around the mechanism itself. I think it dripped down a beam into that area. If the drywall got damp, as long as it dries...I think it is ok.

That's good. I've seen leaks that have come from so far away, that everything in its hidden path became wet.

31/26, clear skies over head. I could see clouds on the far western horizon as I went over the crest. It should get messy here for a while at least.

I don't think it'll big deal, but you could see a period of PL or ZR later tonight. I never expect much frozen or freezing precip in these setups with a low well to our west, especially on the west slope. If we had a real cold airmass in place, it might be a different story.

Temps were a consistent 32-33 degrees from Becket to Peru but as soon as I crossed the crest temps on the east side were 30-31. It's clear here now so maybe we'll shave a degree or two more, The ground is frozen here or has snow on it so I would think a period of light icing is likely. Maybe we'll get lucky and get a bit of sn/pl before that. Box's forecast seems to allow for that possibility. Have you been past the Stockbridge Bowl in the last few days? I'm curious if it's skinned over yet. We were talking about ice fishing at lunch today and I'm hoping to at least get some ice down in the next week or two. Lake Ashmere is iced over now and so are the ponds in Becket.

33.1F here and overcast, More then likely they used green board in the bathroom for mold and mildew resistance, But if there is insulation there and that got wet, Thats another story.....

That's what a carpenter mentioned. It's a pretty sealed up place, so I expect it to dry and not have a mold problem I hope. I think I'm ok as long as there is not a continuous source of moisture..which there is not.

No, I can't say that's I've been by Stockbridge Bowl lately. I bet it has some ice on it, especially around the edges. Even if the lakes and ponds are skinned over, tomorrow is going to melt a lot of it as we will probably reach the mid 40s with showers.

Unless the low level radiation inversion cold gets trapped, temperatures will rise for many as clouds move in and WAA takes over. I do expect some areas on the east slope to see some light icing.

I think the pond ice will get better established this weekend as the coldest air of the season moves in. We may have highs struggling to get out of the mid to upper 20s Saturday and Sunday and lows deep into the teens, if not near 10. I also like the chances of getting something from a SWFE threat mid to late next week. Even if it cuts, the airmass in place will be a bit colder, enhancing our chances of seeing something a tad more important on the front end. I'd place the odds of at having at least an inch of crusty snow on the ground for this area at 60-70% for Xmas.

Ice is tough. I don't think it'll hurt that bad. We had an extended period (finally) below freezing with some low teens for overnight lows. You must have had a low of 13 0r 14 the other night,no? It definitely laid some ice down. First ice is the best ice. I'm not overly concerned with not having snow otg here for X-mas even if it is a perma-crust. My guess is it'll be white as it usually is. Really glad to have you posting regularly as it's nice to have someone with local knowledge. I'm glad you are optimistic about next week. Even if we have to subsist on tainted front end thumps for a while anything will be better than the doldrums.
