djr5001
Anyone know where to find record minimum for least amount of snow yearly? Always wondered what regions our stations mon has been. "Harrisburg top 5 least snowy years: 1937-38 8.8 INCHES 1994-95 9.0 INCHES 1949-50 9.8 INCHES 1930-31 10.3 INCHES 1997-98 10.9 INCHES Top 5 snowiest years: 1960-61 81.3 INCHES 1995-96 77.6 INCHES 1993-94 75.9 INCHES 1963-64 74.7 INCHES 1977-78 70.6 INCHES" found this in old annual summary from 2005... need to check totals for recent years though... 2006 saw 5.7" in entire calendar year but I think Dec 05 had enough to put it over... I have been working on creating a file with Harrisburg precip data... mostly done with rain portion but not far yet on snow

From the data I have 72-73 had 12.1" snow from November 72 through March 73... so it is close and might be a top 5 least snowy year in other locations nearby... I was in PIttsburgh and 92-93, 93-94 and 95-96 were fantastic snow seasons in central/western PA. 94-95 stood out like a sore thumb because it was such a stinker. In January 96 when we had that brutel cold and the flooding, we (Fire Dept) could not gain access to some roads along the river. I had to walk from about the George Wade Bridge to the Rockville bridge on the back road the runs paralel to the river, to house up there. It was 8ish at night and the ice from the river was deposited on the road. we had to carry all our stuff with us. what a fun trip. it was dead silent and you could actually hear the ice moaning, groaning and creeking as it moved. Eriee sounds. It took us hours to walk up and back and to mitigate the problem.
