MAG5035
that heavy precip is blowing up too far east for my liking...i thought it might be a bad thing to see that cold front barreling east. It did seem like things setup a little bit further east in the end when it rolled through. I was originally worried that central PA wouldn't see the brunt of the precip and instead roll up through eastern Ohio and western/northwestern PA. Noticed that 0z NAM had trended a bit east at the last second with heavy precip axis. You still look like your in pretty decent shape, especially if you can get some lake enhancement from those raging winds. Starting to see a pretty decent pivot in the precip shield in NW PA, but it does seem like the Rochester area and south of there might be where some good snows set up. Further south, couple nice sw-ne oriented bands on north and south sides of Pittsburgh. That should start showing up more in the Laurels and perhaps into the central counties later today. Gonna be some rough going in those bands with the high winds.
PottercountyWXobserver
G'night guys, I gotta catch a couple hours of zzz's before the 7AM obs, then its off to work. Good luck with maybe some LE squalls!
pawatch
Wind gusting and temp down to 35. Looking at the hi-def radar snow is close to. Edit: Temp now
Mallow
Looks like we're gonna end up with essentially nothing on the pavement. A bit over 1/4" on cars. Some nice dendrites and plates (sparkly!) with good snow ratios, though. It'll be up to snow showers/squalls, the backside of the low (see Nick's post for what's forcing it), and possibly LES bands to pile up any more. Wow. Glad to be on the south part of town! Hard to measure, but I now have probably an average of a half inch. Missed the brunt of the band, though... my friend in Boalsburg says he has an average of about 2 inches, with 6 inch drifts. Nice to see more snow when I woke up, though. Hopefully we can get in on some of that back-edge stuff moving into western PA now, and then maybe a LES band if we're lucky. We park in Nittany Lion Deck and I was walking down Burrowes, and couldn't see the ridge off in the distance. This is very, very odd.....bands oriented and moving NE. I would say we have the same in Port Matilda, so I like my idea of 1-3 for my backyard.

Blizzard92
No snow here on the ground. BL was just too mild for most of Pennsylvania allowing the majority of the precipitation to be rain with only minimal QPF left for snow.

Ended up with around a half inch, so still think 1-3 by tonight including lake effect IMBY. Looks like the western half of the state got at least that from about AOO UNV westward, and NE PA from about I-80 northward did the same, based on web cam links. Haven't seen any measurements as yet. JamieOber
Ground covered outside. Maybe 1/2"? That's what I'm thinking. Saw a guy fall right on his butt on the Burrowes sidewalk on my walk in. He was more embarrassed than hurt, lol.

Add in some lake effect streamers and portion of the deformation snow axis and it appears most areas will reach forecasted accumulations; perhaps a bit less in some areas. NeffsvilleWx
Ended up with a dusting down here. Not even enough to cover the ground. I thought we didn't get anything until I noticed a small pile that had drifted against our fence. I'd rather have a trace of snow than an inch of rain. Especially after all the rain we got last year. canderson
Never saw a flake in HBG, it's now brilliantly sunny outside. Winds were gusty overnight but they didn't seem to be anythung over 30 and probably 15 sustained. Glad some of you got a little something out of this, hopefully LES can get you N/NW guys even more. This will make you all feel better: It's snowing in Alabama right now!

I think the fact we've had strong winds for a year now lessens my thoughts on them.

Blizzard92
not even a trace at ipt...27 degrees. A trace of snow was reported at IPT. There were several hours of light snow. http://www.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KIPT.html I think people get confused, a trace of snow can be considered just with one flake falling out of the sky. It has nothing to do with accumulation or coating the ground. Any snow that falls whether it sticks or not is considered a trace.

clarks green snow
Ended up with just over 1" here in Clarks Green/Waverly in Northern Lackawanna County. Looks to flurry for most of the weekend but will add very little to what is on the ground. Funny that this is even worth mentioning as it happened 5 out of every 7 days last winter!
