Precip shut off down here now, light coating on the ground. Decks frozen solid. Now i'll be waiting to see what goes on later today when the deform pivots as well as any squalls that develop. Further north, seems to be a more enhanced area of snowfall (or mostly snowfall) in an area bounded by State College, Renovo, and Lock Haven. Some enhanced snow trying to nose up toward Potter as well.

Yeah, the heavier returns look to just miss me towards the SE. I bet some locations in the black forest region in potter county will come away as the big winners with the synpotic type snows. Looks like the heavier band is sliding up towards Tioga. Somewhere near Wellsboro, PA is going to win big very soon.

It's been keeping roads/sidewalks pretty soaked. Temp down to 32°F, with 30°F near the I99 onramp. :yikes: Should have a nice ice skating rink on the sidewalks before long.

Yup, and snow hasn't quite started sticking to pavement yet. But it seems that that's not far off. Sticking to everything else. We have maybe nearing (but not quite) 1/4" on cars. Coming down pretty good (high-end light or low-end moderate snow).

Snow is falling much colder, drier, at a decent clip, swirling around in the wind, and sticking to cars.

If you had seen earlier, the same happened here at State College. About 20 minutes of weak temperature rises after the initial big drop. Then they started to fall precipitously again. And it's not like you're going to be 38F while everyone else is in the lower to mid 20s tonight. Patience.

Overnight: Scattered snow showers. Cloudy, with a steady temperature around 35.

Hey man how's it going. Looks like north of here's getting hit pretty good.

Impressive! I wish we got that kind of winds. Snow at a good clip here, will have to go out and measure again soon. Temps have slowed up some but still continue to lower but at a much slower rate.

yeah buf is a windy place lol. Little concering to see the 06z NAM back off on the dynamics around here for the morning...but there's already some lake-enhancement going on so that might negate that.

and just like that the power went out for a few minutes...back now hopefully it holds.

Ya. We might manage a half inch total out of this tonight. Hopefully we can scrounge out some more in the snow squalls/the back edge/lake effect bands later. The snow won't be going anywhere any time soon, though. :D

no lol, you guys must of not saw the question. I was asking for a mini challenge for fun for those who are still on tonight. I said who do you guys think will have the highest totals for the coop stations at the 7AM obs in PA. I said Wellsborro.

idk the coop stations in PA but I think areas near Bradford would see more than those further east.

See i dunno, because the band is setting up to last the longest and intensity wise over eastern Potter and Tioga counties. I think it is between Coudersport 7SE, Galeton, Cowanesque Dam, and Wellsboro. I'd say me, but the band looks to miss me slightly and hang on just a little longer slightly east.

Looks like we're gonna end up with essentially nothing on the pavement. A bit over 1/4" on cars. Some nice dendrites and plates (sparkly!) with good snow ratios, though. It'll be up to snow showers/squalls, the backside of the low (see Nick's post for what's forcing it), and possibly LES bands to pile up any more.

If anyone sends any spotter reports outta Galeton i'd say that one would win, it's getting the brunt of that bowling ball of heavy precip moving up thru Potter/Tioga. But yea otherwise prolly Wellsboro, Coop or spotters obs are pretty hard to come by in the wilderness up there haha. Your prolly seeing some pretty good rates at the moment.

yeh it is coming down at a good clip. Just came back from outside, I have 1.5" total so far. You might be right about Galeton. There is another coop observer outside of Coudersport who might win. It is Coudersport 7SE, he has elevation on his side also.
