ski MRG
Well if you own WaWa, Bluehill or any other SNE slope it can't be any worse at any other time as they aren't open and the mountain is bare. Thanks to all the recreational skiers spending their money the big mountains have loaded the trails with guns in the last few years so they'll do okay once it gets cold. I'm pretty sure they'll not be happy if we torch again in a week. Look at Killington, 13 days ago Pete correctly noted they had 30 trails open. Only 15 today. Most resorts aside of SR went backward. Depending on how this plays out tonight I may try to ski Friday or Saturday but likewise I'm not driving to NY or VT to find more than a few trails. Hoping this can pull some magic and Loon or SR gets buried. Temps have leveled here, RUC to me has to be on ludes, can't see how it torches this much. It's amazing that despite all the December torch talk and how ski resorts would be closed at Christmas here we are at the end of week 1 with a decent storm about to dump on many areas and a protracted period of snowmaking temps to follow. Trail counts should really expand over the weekend and beyond. Like me, many people will have a great time skiing in the next fews days. Sadly, there are some that see brown in their backyards and choose to miss the fun. More for us!!!!

CoastalWx
Like the sound of that. hey if we can't get snow we might as well get some convection going. Well that might be more for the Cape.

Lets hope so Pete, but its been god awful, Okemo with still only 4 runs, at the top, pouring rain all day up that way. Lets hope they see snow tonight, enough to build on over the next few days. ORH is +9.2 through yesterday, your area above +10 for the first week in December, incredible warmth, just incredible after a record breaking warm autumn, and yes you did snow in October. Bottom line ski season to date has been atrocious, and the first week of December has been a blow torch. I hope to God ski country gets snow! This will be one of Berkshire East later openings for sure. I was really hoping the Berks got crushed by this. I'm not free until the w/e otherwise I guess I'd go to Stowe or Sugarbush. Honestly can't wait until the boy is old enough to ski or I have the funds to bring a babysitter to the mountain with me. lol I wish Maine was an easier drive from W. Ma. but there are no quick W to E routes in N NE. SR up through Sugarloaf and Saddleback is still sort of where my heart is after living in Cambridge for so many years. Modfan
I know alot of focus is on the snow, but where does the heaviest axis of rain set up? Sure looks like North Central MA to Berks are getting smacked right now with radar est of 1.5 already

I don't see you and MPM don't get 4-8..with an avg around 6 being most likely. 8 might be tough..though not impossible

I think maybe 3-5 with a spot 6 should do it.

wxmanmitch
Temps starting to tick downward here FWIW. 39.7° and slowly dropping. 850 freezing line probably extends along that area of bright banding from Saratoga Springs southwestward along I-88. Logan11
Yeah as of now I'd say it is snowing about 25 miles east of Cooperstown at the higher terrain of Schoharie County based on obs, but still a good 20 miles west of me and higher up in elevation. Still stuck on 35.2 here. My mom and sister have been traveling up I-88 and they have gone in and out of snowfall based on elevation from BGM to Schoharie County where they are now.... By now areas west may be snow at all elevations. RN/SN line still out towards Cooperstown. At this rate I could drive there and back before it gets here

Once mid-levels are cool enough, some snow should reach the ground even at 35.2.

As long as the Euro had .20 falling as snow 1-2 is possible if it's even close to being right.
