That looks a lot closer to the GYX print forecast than using their every-six-hr snow tool, which only has 1.5" for Rangeley and nothing for the foothills and south.

My point forecast was updated at noon. Earlier it was giving me the big squadoosh and now it says up to 2". So maybe the snow tool is being updated as well.

RUC now starting to give interior mass se nh and maine some decent snows later tonight, signs of it hitting the comma head potential up arond kgay and points northeast

Good luck with that.....

NAM at 12-1 looks pretty good. Had temps diving in Boston to around 45/46ish....was showing the nudge of cold air along the north shore. Maybe a smidge slow on the cold but it's tough to tell.

But does this often happen under a NW wind??

Or are there upslope or other local issues in play here?

I'm with you...it would be nice to have something to aid in radiational cooling. I think it'll work out.

BTW, has the cold front passed you yet? I think it finally hit my house in Stafford but doesn't have appeared to reach Union yet.

When i left it was 52.3 around 10:00..so I'm sure it's down to near 50 now. I have a gut feeling it snows hard for 2-3 hrs overnight..1-2 is def possible..and if it breaks right 3

We knew the inevitable last 12 hour east shift would happen. Hopefully that's enough to get snow even to the coast now

I don't know if it is a true shift, because I think it is a little faster too. Tough to figure out exactly. It may be a wee bit cooler, but at the same time, this thing is hauling.

I guess NWS Albany decided to go with winter storm warnings for my area. P&C has me with 6-10". Not sure I get quite that much unless I can pull off a faster changeover. I wasn't quite expecting them to go to warnings this soon given their normally conservative nature. I'm still expecting the best fireworks just to my north along the west side of the southern and central Greens. Woodford, VT at 2.4K is going to jackpot with this one with a solid 12"+ type event I think. Cold air already banking up against the west slope some, which will lead to a quicker changeover.

I posted this earlier as an edit, but it may have gotten lost..

Have you guys checked out the 12z NMM and ARW hi Res models on NCEP? If not you should..They are pretty cold and they are usually good temperature and precip amount wise.. they have about 5-6 hours of snow especially farther north you go... pretty damn interesting

Last post til 9:14 am tomorrow unless mod wants to take off 5/day for Observations like they usually do... If not.. happy tracking

I'm going with about 2" here...but I could easily be wrong. I was hoping for 3-4" before 00z last night....but that trend kind of killed that idea. The 12z trend was slightly better so that we can prob expect 1-2" in the interior...maybe 3" in the monadnocks and 3-5" out by MPM/Pete....close to a lot more though there...maybe Mitch in Lenox can get 6"+.

Euro weenie maps absolutely blast your area after it changes with a 5"/3 hr period then a few more inches after that as it pulls away. If the euro is right, 6-10 looks like a good call, however who knows how reliable the euro weenie #s are.

It is faster, But if you pull up the Northeast region and follow the track and thicknesses from 00z thurs to 12z and match it up with same timefarme on the 0z and 12z you can see a difference in where the low tracks up here anyways once it gets to SE Mass, Looks to head NE rather then NNE..
