Hey everyone, first post here. I saw a bunch of cool pictures and decided to share some pictures I took on a trip to New Zealand this summer. They have clouds, and nature, and some have snow, so I figured they're closely enough related to weather to share. Some background: I'm from the east coast, and have little photography experience. The pictures were taken using a 'point and shoot' Sony digital camera. All in all I took over 2500 pictures in a little over two weeks; it totalled just over 10GB. All these pictures are from the South Island, it is much more photogenic than the North Island (though both are beautiful in their own right).

Enjoy!

Quick descriptions:

1) Before sunrise in Kaikoura, the Moon, Jupiter, and Venus are visible (technically Mars and maybe Mercury are also in view but I can't see them, even in the hi-res originals).

2) Minutes before sunrise in Kaikoura, the camera actually exaggerated the intense orange in the clouds.

3) One of the mountain ridges near Mt. Cook, the highest mountain in NZ.

4) (the vertical one if you lose track) Sunrise over Lake Tekapo, just south of Mt. Cook. Can anyone identify that cloud type in the middle? I'm terrible with clouds.

5) Sunset over Lake Wanaka (my personal favorite)

6) Mitre Peak in Milford Sound

7) Mountains above Lake Wakatipu near Queenstown (this picture was taken from a plane!)

8) Mitre Peak (again) but from a different angle
