Clinch Leatherwood
I guess I read it all wrong, seemed tongue in cheek, sarcastic with a little humor to me. Like Phil said we all know each other very well and understand that we are idiots with an extreme passion for weather. Some folks do not quite understand the dynamic which of course leads to comments and moderation from folks outside the region. I am at the point in my life and I know Jerry will disagree, where whatever happens happens. I would take a 16-18, 05 if Phil gets 30 or a 3 inch if Will gets 24. I know our region, this stuff happens. The ball busting and camaraderie is all part of why we post here. We garner knowledge but also sit around the campfire busting balls. I would not want it any other way. I'm about to go into a snownh/orh tirade if this fu**ing site f**** up another post I try to make. Yesterday I spent 20 minutes responding to MRG about skiis, hit post it vanishes, just respodned to Fella now same thing. Now that's progress. Mainly I blame the mountain people. You guys all saw how deliverance turned out. That wouldn't have happened in the lowlands...those nice folks would have just given them some lemonade. NAM is warmer at least to start. But you're right, much was tongue in cheek and I used my laughing histerically finally in snow experience to notate who twisted I know I am.... And I'm happy to give Phil 30 inches... But if I were plotting it all ahead of time, I reward myself with snow first...lol.... Clinch Leatherwood
Haha, yeah this has been an awful pattern. I've been tauting how anomalously warm its been up here and you know its bad when it can't even snow on the summits. Even MWN has been hurting so 6K feet wouldn't even help for some of these times, lol. Progress though, at least SR and some of the other places are expanding. It remains to be seen how mid month plays out but let's hope they can at least blow snow at night up there. I don't think I'd disagree. powderfreak
good one. i don't know how much of last night was really sarcastic banter...some was, but there was definitely a level of truth being tossed around. anyway, in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter. let's just get through this stretch of bad weather and hope that things take a turn for the better at some point down the road. Haha yes there was. And while I like Pete/MRG, I really hope I do not come off as condescending to coastal plain folks or anyone else for that matter. I try to be level headed and of course get excited for snow... but I can't think of many times I've poo-pooed snow in SNE just because I don't want anyone to get it. That's the one disconnect in this conversation... we all want snow (that's a given) but its the folks that were posting about *hoping* that someone else does not get snow. And why do I always get singled out as the NNE "bad-guy" that everyone hopes it never snows again, haha. I like to think I'm a pretty even minded opinion on this board. I roll with the torches, roll with the cold. I remember that April 1st or thereabouts event last year that swung east at the last moment screwing us up here. Will and Ray had the same late night conversation about how they were glad that happened so the Mansfield co-op wouldn't get to 9 feet of snowpack. I and the NNE crowd may not always be rooting for parts of SNE to get snow, but we also don't sit back in our threads late at night talking about how we hope that ORH or BOS don't get snow or that we are glad they didn't get snow. 40/70 Benchmark
I'm the same way... I want to be accessing the backcountry off the lift system, not skiing some man-made stuff (though it works in a pinch). Its like being a drug addict (or at least how I would imagine it is like, lol)... you want the pure stuff but if you can't have it, you settle for some crap until your luck changes. Anyway, some good discussion last night folks. Way to alienate SNE from NNE and stop regional wars. Especially coming from moderaters, lol. This pattern needs to change. Give it a rest...I want snow more imby than I do your's....is this a novel concept....Jesus.
weathafella
So reminds me of 2001-02 when we scored a decent hit in an awful pattern in early December. Biggest snow of the year followed by upper 60s 2-3 days later.

mahk_webstah
The inner child in many has been spoiled by a pretty decent stretch of good winters and now we're left feeling a bit empty because mother nature has given us a timeout. The October surprise didn't help because it whet the appetite and now the atmospheric kitchen is slow to cook up the next wintery entrée. All the while the hunger pains grow stronger and the whines of disapproval grow louder. This. And the weather is really boring here in Baku. It's all good like you said but I think we do need to keep in mind - let's not spike the football as eventually people do get uptight. Hell no, spiking the football is all part of it. In my 15 or so years on boards I was able to spike the football exactly once and that was for a 2 inch jackpot in Nov I know my area I do not Jackpot ever. Spiking the football never bothers me. Just like football there is always the chance when you are running across the field I can blindside you with a block that sends you reeling 10 yards in the air and then I get to say in your face , spike that MOFO. Ask SkiMRG how he felt Dec 09 when we were in the 18-24 range down here and he was laid out waiting for the stretcher. LOL. Its all good bro. 40/70 Benchmark
Of course but there really aren't any models showing snow up here anyway except for some amped up ensembles. People are now having such fear of interior areas getting snow when there's not even any support for it. It just seems quite childish. I could see if every model was showing a ALB-BTV jackpot but SNE still has a much better shot than NNE (at least thats what it looks like to me) and all the sudden we get mud slinging overnight over nothing really. I hope you guys get snow. Those threads and obs are the best when everyone is happy but its only early December and we are starting this backyard war crap. Yea, it's childish to fear a nw trend...we never see that.

Until the GFS and Euro bite...that's about all you can do...but those s/w can sometimes pull up the coast...especially in this regime. Over the last few days, We certainly have seen just about all the scenarios that this storm could produce, So yeah, Certainly would not want to lock anything in this far out, But chances are more in favor of this coming north then OTS i think any ways, The ensembles seem to be showing this, Just a matter of how close and how far and how much cold air will be available, At least it is something to track.. 40/70 Benchmark
I really hope you are kidding. It's called jocular humor Will. I love snow. I live in a remote place specifically to enjoy snow. I have to drive 30 minutes to get to a grocery store or a hospital because I ;love snow. When I vacation I go to Alaska because I love snow. You guys tease me relentlessly about living in the sticks. It's cool. I think it's funny. Don't get all hurtyhurtz because I tease you guys about living in a tropical climate. It's a joke. I do not equate a person's worth with how much snow they get. I enjoy nearly every poster here for the contributions they make. We are a dynamic bunch and I value everyone's voice, Calling me a sick person is over the top.Perhaps you were drinking. I really don't care if you see another flake or you get record snow. I only care about the snow that falls from here to MRG and points in between. I hope everybody gets snow but I won't feel bad for a second if, as often happens, I score big and the CP mixes to rain. I'm honest about it. Twice on Sunday you insulted me. You owe me a cup of tea at Funky Murphy's the way I see it.
powderfreak
Give it a rest...I want snow more imby than I do your's....is this a novel concept....Jesus. Of course its not a novel concept but this is a forum of New England and not everyone lives in Wilmington, MA. Its the general attitude thats a downer and just comes off as really self-centered when you wish that others get shafted just if you can't jackpot. I'm done with the issue but I think for the most part everyone gets along in here and most posters can still stay upbeat and talk about snow that is outside their backyard. Just look at Organizing Low... he's always posting and cheering on any snowfall anywhere around the area. He is not sitting there posting "oh if I can't get snow, I hope this cuts to Michigan or hits Bermuda." Its just an attitude.
40/70 Benchmark
Some of those posts last night were rare displays from some posters. But even I am differing from you Pete in that while I want to get snow (snow in a ski town makes for a fun atmosphere), I do not wish others to miss out on snow. I'm less happy if I don't get any, but I still wouldn't wish a whiff just if I can't get it. That's the emotion that reeks of jealousy and makes this board a worse place. As I've been saying, I like when someone gets snow because then this forum is at least seeing some posts and its fun to talk about winter weather. Very similar to what Dendrite was saying. You're my idol....if we get everyone to join in making one giant snowman, maybe we can solve world hunger.
