earthlight
By the way, happy met winter to everybody. Snow is white when it falls but after days of it on the ground, it gets black. Sometimes, there is yellow snow.

MJO812
Light at the end of the tunnel?
SnowGoose69
Light at the end of the tunnel? Forget about it, the ensembles have been trying to do that for weeks and have been in some cases off by tremendous margins. Just look at today for example, the AO was +2.90, but the 10 day ensembles on the 21st of November had it at about +0.5. The good news is the ensembles have consistently been trying to go negative with the AO and NAO, that is certainly a better sign than if they were just straight out positive. Indications possibly that if we get a few changes somewhere we could see a dip, I believe the AO is highly more likely to eventually go negative than the NAO as I've said the last few weeks. NYCSuburbs
Light at the end of the tunnel? Probably not yet - take a look at the bottom image, the AO forecast verification is just awful...

atownwxwatcher
Lol, what? I guess you have not been reading the posts in the banter thread and probably have skipped over them. And yes this is a banter and a BS thread but you can clearly tell when a person seriously is implying what they are saying despite this thread being a banter thread etc... And some not mentioning names truly have said and felt that because it has been said OUTSIDE of the banter areas by the same people....
NYCSuburbs
I know it's the long range GFS, but that's a big change from the last few runs - this set up is still somewhat transient with the ridging near Greenland not establishing itself firmly in place, but at least at hour 360, the SE ridge is completely crushed, and in place of it we now have a deeper eastern trough. One GFS run is showing this, now we'll have to see if the next few GFS runs continue to show a similar theme or back away.
earthlight
I'm confused man. Obviously it's a banter thread. I just didn know what you were trying to say in your post. No biggie.

earthlight
The GEFS even move the Polar Vortex away from Greenland after 300 hours and start to build heights over the NAO region.

LongBeachSurfFreak
I'm just not happy with the pattern currently. Not only is a torch in December annoying it looks like we are headed into a second winter in a row of a complete lack of (ocean) waves here on Long Island.
