Watch the loop of Dec 19-20, 2009.... The explosion of moisture is quite remarkable. The sfc low went a bit too far east as it went ENE, instead of NNE.... If, it did go NNE, we would, also be covered with 18-24-30" amounts. Would have been a category 4 on the scale; maybe even 5.

SNE got 12-24" also.

Looking at the loop just before the storm reached the area, it almost looked like it was coming straight towards us before ending up a bit too far SE. Almost as bad as the March 09 NE NJ disaster when the snow went straight towards NYC but the bands split with NE NJ in the middle, places to my NW and SE got 8+ inches while I got a wind blown 4" with grass showing in spots.

I recall on Eastern prior to December 19-20, 2009, how massive it could have potentially be....

Of the 7 KU events in the 23 month period from March 2009 - January 2011, that was the best one out at the WSO @ Upton:

Storm totals:

March 1 - 2, 2009: 14.0"

Dec 19 - 20, 2009: 26.3"

Feb. 10, 2010: 13.4"

Feb 25 - 26, 2010: 10.4"

Dec 26, 2010: 18.8"

Jan 11 - 12, 2011: 14.1"

Jan 26 - 27, 2011: 13.3"

February 6, 2010 would have been NESIS 6 if it turned up the coast.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying I'm not happy it didnt snow but that storm was only impressive for a select few on strong island. The rest of us suffered a slow Virgo death.

got10 inches here--wouldn't call it bad, although Upton whent for something like 12-18 so technically it was a bust.

LGA didnt drop below freezing! Perfect heat island/ radiation cooling situation going on this week,

Who cares. LGA represents only the LGA. I easily went below freezing and I am 4 miles east of the airport. Evidence? Frost and frozen puddles everywhere. A nearby pond even had a skim of ice on it.
