LocoAko
I must say that despite it only being breezy and in the upper 30s this morning, I was quite cold coming off that 74F a few days ago.

I would add a zero after the 2. But yeah, no chance of that this winter. Last year had a chance if February and March didnt suck so bad. We were well on our way to smashing all records. Stormlover74
Yep. I got a whole 4.5", barely more than the early Feb snow. I got a few flurries after the initial batch moved through overnight. What did you get in March 2009? I had 10 inches here. Were you in the earthlight snowhole of death?

Metsfan
Euro ensembles have a -epo throughout the run. It is also different than the op run. Just ran through the Euro ensembles, and the Eastern Pacific Oscillation actually switches positive by the end of the run.

Sundog
Sundog's aftercast: -November will start out chilly, coming off the record snow from the end days of October. -Major weenieism prevails all over the megalopolis and expectations for the upcoming winter are at record highs. -Only problem is the only thing that will verify at record highs is November's temps. -Any SE ridge popping up is dismissed as only temporary and is necessary to "reload" the pattern" so to speak. -It doesn't reload. -People start to panic. -Calls for a warm November start to be made, but no one really starts to talk about December. -Warmth verifies. Of course. -People start to point to how warm Novembers lead to cold and snowy winters. -People start to point to how warm Novembers lead to warm and snowless winters. -Models will produce a bogus changeover event in the long range and verifies as well as anything in the long range verifies; i.e., it doesn't. -Parts of Northern New England receive snow from our phantom changeover. -People post webcams. -They cry while looking at the screen. Their family members ask them if one of their favorite celebrities passed away. -The ridge from hell returns. Temps soar to 70. -Posters say how it's nice to have the warmth; after all, it's only November. -They use their pools. They golf. They do some landscaping. They wear and/or look for sundresses. -Denial FTL. -Calls are made for a change in the pattern by mid December. The sun has had clear skin so there was support for such assertions. -A life hangs in the balance because of a call made by a young man with a subscription to Vidal Sassoon. -A much hyped cold shot for Thanksgiving week/weekend fizzles like a Connecticut native's short game. -Everyone overeats because of depression. - Welcome to December. Guest Pamela
Northeast Jersey is like windward side of the Cascades. Rarely do they not win in the snow department. ...and since the prevailing wind is downslope in NE Jersey (off the Catskills and Poconos)....and thus a drying sinking wind.....quasi-chinook....while the prevailing wind in the Cascades is SW and upslope off the Pacific....the analogy could not be more complete! Stormlover74
Yeah but 95-96 was 4 1/2 months of winter with a few breaks in between. Last year was basically a 4 to 6 week period of incredible wintry weather. It's pretty rare to have significant snow in November, Dec, Jan, Feb, March and April in the same winter December 2010 and January 2011 came close.... As did February 2011, poor setup which gave us all ice, instead of al snow; (The Chicago Blizzard)..
