snowman21
As expected week one of December is an all out mega torch for all 4 climo sites, the low today was a +10 at PVD the high+19 at ORH, tomorrow is even more impressive. Hey Ginx! Big big departures incoming. Lows this morning (assuming 12Z lows hold): BOS....50 (+18) ORH....50 (+24) BDL....50 (+23) PVD....48 (+18) If highs can stay out of the 60s it'll help knock down some of these departures as average highs are in the upper-30s to mid-40s now (39.5 at ORH to 45.5 at PVD). snowman21
Best summer ever Looking at the Sep-Nov time frame, BDL tied with 1991 and 1954 for most number of morning lows 15 or more degrees above normal with 10. ORH crushed 1954 in such mornings: 13 this year versus 8 in 1954. BOS barely beat out 1954 and PVD handily beat out 1979 10-7. I should add the disclaimer that these numbers are based on 1981-2010 normals applied retroactively to prior years and does not include the time periods where BDL and PVD weren't at BDL and PVD respectively which shaves a few decades off the history I am using. Impressive nonetheless despite the caveats.

Clinch Leatherwood
In an attemp to stir the weather gods into action I'll put forth an important question...where should I have Jerry take me to eat twice? I like ultra high end food with a huge tab, plus I've been known to drink a good bottle of wine. My hope is this will through an inevitable balancing of juju force the storm SE on later model runs. Deep down I can't take this humidity. 60 degree temps with dewpoints in the upper 50s is killing my snowpack.
Mr Torchey
Departures through yesterday for December. bos+5.6 bdl+4.1 pvd+3.4 orh+7.0 Massive + departures today these numbers will jump big time, then obviously come back some as we head into late week and weekend, still think area wide +3-+5 at months end but who knows. Impressive nonetheless despite the caveats. As always, I appreciate the stats. Love the stats. I do take exception to the statement that the normals were applied to time periods when BDL or PVD weren't at their current location. Yes the stations moved several miles to their present locations but the record is for a general location, not a specific location. If it were for a specific location, we wouldn't have very many records that went back very far. Even while at BDL, the site of the temperature probe has moved several times. In fact, as I've mentioned several times, the station has become much warmer since it moved from an open field in 1996. I don't have a problem with a record being applied for a location that is in the same general area. My own weather record is from three different sites, all within 5 mile linear miles but I still consider it the same area. I do question why normals are only done for 30 years and then wait 10 years to do another set. I have 27-28 years worth of data and have been computing normals all along. I plan on keeping track after I have 30 years worth of data which makes sense to me because you can decadial cycles in the weather and I would think that you'd want the record to be as long as possible to smooth out those cycles. In any event, thanks for the data!

We are as a family so far behind our normal Christmas routine it's not funny. I did hang a wreath yesterday but it seems every time we start something comes up. Been a helluva week for Momma handling everything. Maybe some snow will get me motivated. Get in the spirit, it will feel like winter tom thru sun........enjoy, go have an IWSU
