ravensrule
JB just tweeted that the pattern is changing and the MJO is leaving phase 5 and 6, so even if we do not get hit with the storm next week it is a good sign that our misery may be ending. You should probably read this thread where the pattern change is discussed at length by meteorologists.

Bob Chill
For DC metro. 1.5". All snow. And 10-15:1 ratios. 850's are cold to very cold. 500 track near perfect. It would be a dry and wind driven powder bonanza.

Deck Pic
and much deserved I might add The solution is kind of crazy. How soon before the euro loses the storm and we instead see modest amounts of precip getting sheared out 200 miles to our southeast?
Ian
and much deserved I might add Actually I'm pretty sure we deserve a snowless winter or two still. ;(
Ellinwood
Good thing d7 snowstorms happen all the time It's also 18 hours slower compared to the 00z run... and the low track is quite odd (for lack of a better term).

Nice That's the way you get a big storm in a crappy pattern. I'm not sure I've ever seen one quite like it. If it occurs, the euro will deserve kudos. The forecasts of the mjo do support more amplitude than the gfs is offering but wow, this would be something. It's still way out there with plenty of time for the evolution to change.
