SN_Lover
A degree does not make you a good met/doctor/lawyer/teacher ect.. It takes more than a piece of paper to earn respect. I know some posters on this board who seem more knowledgeable and smarter than some degreed mets. Really? Please watch this then

Mr Bob
Ok, this anti-Joe Bastardi campaign has got to stop. It is immature and disrespectful towards a degreed meteorologist. As a degreed meteorologist, it is less than honest for him to try to figure out less than plausible ways for the weather to impact areas which generate more revenue for him or his company. It is hardly immature for me to point out his continued used car sales mentality when it comes to the weather. On another note, the new Euro monthlies are out today and the 850mb temp anomaly charts are warm all the way through the end of June....sigh... LithiaWx
Really? Please watch this then I'm at work and can't watch an 8 minute video. I'll check it out later but in the mean time how about a brief synopsis. As a degreed meteorologist, it is less than honest for him to try to figure out less than plausible ways for the weather to impact areas which generate more revenue for him or his company. It is hardly immature for me to point out his continued used car sales mentality when it comes to the weather. burgertime
Why? Is it because of his ideology ? I am at a university now thanks. I think is it disrespectful to slander a man that has gone through college and has experience that far surpasses that experience of me and you. If you are going to slander/belittle someone please back your statements up. And don't give me that "Oh he was wrong on some occasions" Have you been wrong about something? We are all imperfect and that's reality. Here is something funny, I'll bet if you polled every MET on this board what their opinion of him is it would be low. It's low for a reason. He is like the boy who cried wolf, just because you say, "I'm not buying your theory" doesn't equate to slander. We can have a laugh at his expense as well. Just because he is a MET doesn't mean we are not allowed to give our opinion on him. Some meteorologist are good some are bad. That video (redditor I see) could be made with a doctor talking about not blaming the doctor...but at the end of the day their are good doctors and bad doctors. Just like there are good mets and bad mets. JB is very knowledgeable but he has a track record of really saying some ridiculous stuff.

What, no picking on JB? Next thing you're going to tell me I can't say anything about Henry M. call maps. We've been doing that around here as long as I can remember. The more you're around here the more you'll realize what Mr. Bob was saying. It's all about the hype machine w/ JB so he can drive up subscriptions. WeatherNC
As a degreed meteorologist, it is less than honest for him to try to figure out less than plausible ways for the weather to impact areas which generate more revenue for him or his company. It is hardly immature for me to point out his continued used car sales mentality when it comes to the weather. Bingo! JB has an audience, a corridor from DC - Philly - NYC - BOS that he caters to. The business aspect of AccuWX's venture with him, pay-per-view, often trumps whatever sound guidance he is spilling. The Bastardi express makes no stops in the SE last I checked, and honestly, that is a good thing. Sure I had accuwx pro for a period, mainly for the EC charts and soundings, but since wunderground is providing some of that free now, I have gone elsewhere. Differential equations in the youtube video and the physics/atmospheric understanding aspect of what truly makes a Met are cool, but how hard is it honestly to get in front of a camera, go woof woof, and illustrate what a couple models are showing? Really, it is not that hard, and he overhypes things frequently so that folks will continue to listen, and pay. I for one would prefer a objective response without all the drama, similar to the NAM, you can cut JB's forecast in half, maybe quarter. Pattern change back on topic: Euro monthlies from today obviously suck, holding out a glimmer of hope though that the AO may come around in early Jan. Sustained + has got to give at some point, GFS has been an absolute train-wreck with it's AO forecast as of late, especially when comparing to the ens. MJO is also a cluster atm, although not as bad as initially thought, some indications of a push into 6 or 7 over the next 10 days.

EmersonGA
JB is like the post truncation GFS. Always has a bone to throw you and every once in a while hits a homerun. I like listening to the man but he does overuse hyperbole. Also, having a degree doesnt mean one is good at that field. I have an accounting degree and made decent grades but Im not a very good accountant in practice. Thats why I got into construction.

On most of the videos iv'e seen of him, the southeast was mentioned. If he is such a bad meteorologist, then why is he so successful? If he busted so many times, then why would people not simply unsubscribe from him making his site a loss? His site is still up and I still see him sometimes on CNN and Fox News. Not really http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEFsdFtMqao (Texas and southeast was mentioned) Anyways, 12z GFS ensembles are agreeing that the AO and NAO will decline but stay positive after the 21st. Hopefully we will see some consistency. It would be nice to see both go below

jburns
Thanks for belittling me! This brings me back to the days of middle school, keep it up! This is my last post on this. You were the one that started lecturing on JB and what a degree means. If calling you on it is belittling to you perhaps you need to rethink your posting style.
