PottercountyWXobserver
DCA: 1.7 NYC: 1.1 BOS: -1.0 TOT: 1.8 I think the early part of the month torches, but late DEC really brings a deep cool down to cancel most of the large positive anomallies in the first half of the month. I can see the NAO going negative by the end. As long as the EPO isn't ranging positive I don't think we will see the same large numbers from NOV, although I can see how +2.0 to 2.5 departures for the month work out. Roger Smith
I assume we are still using the 1971-2000 normals. But the differences in December are all rather small anyway. DCA and NYC have both increased 0.2 deg so we would add that amount to reported anomalies using 1981-2010. BOS has dropped 0.1 deg so will be taking that off reported anomalies. weathafella
None of the signals indicate blowtorch. Except the apparently correct signal that the poster read.
Roger Smith
Yep, there was nothing to signal blowtorch except southwest flow and above normal heights and thicknesses. Come to think of it ... what else is there, really?
