daddylonglegs
Wx- Have you seen the 850 temps next week? Its going to feel tropical compared to the current 12F now. Even Sunday should see the melting of our "snowcover"... if you want to call it that.
wisconsinwx
Sure beats a suppressed track outlook to the euro fantasy weeklies land and having to live in the MA thread like 09/10 to see any real snow event pics. Sucks we picked up 3 detroit style stat padders and have .7" at the airport. Really wanted to go snow less since its been pretty clear that dec was going to puke on itself outside of a miracle holiday week clipper like system to drop a inch or two if lucky that just melts away in the sun exposed areas. Sucks we lost a winter month and only have one more to go before the suns of feb and spring like march's of late make keeping snow pack tougher than daddy long legs keeping his undies skidder free. You do have to remember how fruitful previous Februarys have been. It is not anything close to Spring here usually. That said, it would be disappointing if we have to wait that long for anything significant.
wisconsinwx
Oh gee, look at that, the 18z GFS goes back into the deepfreeze after a horrible 12z. Seriously guys, this sucky early-mid December pattern is just that, a sucky early-mid December patten. These jokes about golf clubs all winter and even the bracing for a crappy winter seems so premature/silly. I feel like a cheerleader always bringing optimism to the dark clouds of pessimism on here, but...I dont know how many times I can say it. I know a great deal about past winters for this region. Patterns like this mean absolutely NOTHING with regards to the winter (a season which astronomically is still nearly two weeks from BEGINNING). All it is, really, is a cruel joke by ma nature for those who have yet to see snow. I was going to agree, but.......... http://www.jsonline.com/entertainment/four-milwaukee-county-golf-courses-reopen-8o3cleo-135326133.html

I said back on sunday I feel like it could be a back loaded winter to get areas like chicago and up here close to their seasonal snowfall avg. Thinking a 15-20"+ Feb and one 6"+ storm in March along with a few nickles and dimes for a 10-15" month. I never said feb was spring but it starts that depressing time for snow pack fetish weirdo's like me where the sun becomes evil leading in to our spring like March's of late. I know we had a decent march snow event several years ago cause I had to play one of my HS baseball games in the beginning of it. It's nice to see the GFS continuing to show a turn to more active weather, the first system looks like mostly rain though.

Thankfully the cool waters of Lake Michigan compensate somewhat; December has warm lakes and lack of sunlight, while February has the opposite. Yeah, that's easily the most memorable March storm of recent vintage.

Geos
No it was a few years before that, maybe 2006. I had a white St. Patrick's Day March of '06. 3" - 8.6" for the month. That snowstorm 2 days before Easter in 2008 produced about 13" here. Accuweather is thinking an active snow track up into the eastern Great Lakes till Christmas. Maybe wet and mild in the OV, but with some cold air poised to the west. http://www.accuweath...christmas/58851

That one was great.. Was like a midwinter storm with powder and nice drifting that was measured good for shat at the airport and cost us breaking 100" March 09 had the freak LES storm and then around the end of the month a nice little event. March's are tough and you're prob doing real good if you can have 50% of them above normal snowfall. What's nice is the lake is still pretty vodka cold so that doesn't hurt us like in nov and dec. Hmm, if we get a few inches this month, and double digit figures in February and several inches in March, which is well within the realm of possibility and even likely, that would be considered a back-loaded winter, even if it isn't loaded by the standards of the last few years. A-L-E-K
meh, the historical data makes a great case that we're looking at an uphill battle for a decent winter. It is what it is, we had a good run.

Betcha double or nothing on the cookies you owe me that milwaukee or chicago totals 25"+ of snow for Feb and March. And you should prob think about getting laid or taking a break from the board, you're turning into a snow Grinch ealry this yr.
