WSB Raleigh will probable have that many before the day is out too. :arrowhead:
Poimen
got an inch before it changed to freezing rain. I'm hoping the rain stops before we climb above 32. 29.6 currently and slowly rising.
MotoWeatherman
Had a good shower move thru and now I can find 2-3" icicles. Still hovering below freezing at 31.7.
downeastnc
solid .5" on the ground here, goes from big flakes to small flakes and sleet/rain to big flakes again, ptype seems to be very rate driven at the moment but fear sleet/rain will win out soon. chapelhillwx
I guess all of y'all in Greenville and eastern NC get less than we do so you deserve it, but my dusting is getting pounded by ZR. More snow seems incredibly unlikely.
NEGa
Sleeting hard 28.5 degrees enjoy it!! Had a good shower move thru and now I can find 2-3" icicles. Still hovering below freezing at 31.7. i will admit i am sort of surprised that we are still seeing freezing rain this morning. i had thought we'd go above freezing around 4 am or so. temps are warming quickly with 40s in atl. 30.0 here now with freezing rain continuing how are the roads over there? superjames1992
The snow this morning was interesting. The flakes were so powdery that they fit nicely in between the grass blades as opposed to sitting atop them like they typically would. This created a rather picturesque scene with the grass blades still visible with the snow in between.

FoothillsNC
Temp is still 31, just not moisture. The .01" overnight was enough to glaze lightly though. Congrats on the snow in central , northern and eastern NC. You folks are having a good December. The only snow I've seen is some flurries with the arctic outbreak a few days ago for a few minutes. For us in the southern, southwest piedmont to get snow we need to get rid of this westerly/northwesterly flow stuff and get a gulf low. Unfortunately with the big Northeast Votex hanging around, its probably clipper type flow for a while, which is very dry here.
NEGa
moderate freezing rain again i guess at this point i will take as much as i can before we hit freezing lol. already stuck at home so might as well make the most of it side note to new members - please update your location so we know you general location when you are posting obs

While northern Orange, Durham and Wake counties got upwards of 2" of snow on the 4th, I got a little under half an inch. Today about a quarter it looks like. Unless the models switch around for this weekend, looks unlikely for me to see much more until (if) the pattern reloads.

JQPublic
Enjoy it folks! I decided to take a little vaca in Seattle. My sleep schedule is all messed up and following this storm isn't helping. Post more pics!
superjames1992
any pics? I brought my camera home this weekend for Christmas Break, so I don't have it with me now at NCSU. I may take some pictures when I get back to High Point, NC tonight if there's snow on the ground. This is from WRAL, but it basically is what it looks like here. LOL be careful! just talked to a friend who was saying it was ok until he spun around in his truck in a 360. he obviously changed his mind and said he was going back home 31 here now and its coming down pretty hard
Shep1478
Made it into work from the Dahlonega area to North Atlanta. The secondary roads had ice patches here and there, but for the most part the ride was okay. Ga 400 was no problems from Highway 53 all the way to 285. The temps were right at 32f. By the time I got to work, it was 34.. No worries! Good luck to all! Be safe!

I got a solid 2" near Timberlyne and about 2.5" at my dad's just barely north of town -- know where Sunrise is? Near Duke Forest.
waltrip
Freezing rain here this morning. Temperature is at 30.7. We've received 0.24" of freezing rain since midnight. Ice coating evefrything.

Hugo
Just got a call from my grandmother in Lumberton saying an SUV was overturned about a mile from her house. There was a decent amount of ice there, apparently. Schools are delayed in that area, it appears. And delays/closures go all the way down to Marion County, SC, near Myrtle Beach. Haven't seen any farther south than that. Apparently, Bennettsville/Laurinburg/Lumberton got decent sleet accumulations.

Itunis
Just went above freezing here...32.2. Dad reported having ice issues going to work at 8:00 so I suppose canceling/delaying school for much of the area was justified.
