superjames1992
We transitioned to sleet here around 6:30 AM and it's mainly freezing rain now. The roads have improved a lot from their condition at dawn since the snow has stopped. Of course, all the roads here on campus are heavily treated, so I don't know what non-treated roads might be like. It looks like we ended up with about 1/2" or so of snow/sleet. NC State decided to plow the sidewalks of snow. Problem is, all that did was make the sidewalks very icy! Leaving snow on the sidewalk would have been better since at least you can get some traction. MotoWeatherman
Report from Dahlonega GA. Had a few token flakes about 4-5pm yesterday. Then we pretty much had light freezing rain. Temp is still below freezing here. 31.5 with light freezing rain. The longest icicle I could find was maybe 1" long but everything is pretty much a sheet of ice including road and driveway. WidreMann
I woke up, looked out my window and saw that it had in fact snowed. It's freezing raining now, and there is already a healthy glaze beginning to form on the leaves. It'll be interesting to see what that looks like later this morning before it warms up and rains. Solak
the snow/ice is frozen on the cars, water is dripping off the roof into the gutters. Low clouds are racing by from the SW. Guess the frozen part of this event is pretty much over here.
NEGa
wow what a morning. they have closed court! 29.5 with freezing rain falling, everything is a solid sheet of ice (about 1/10). amazing what just a little ice can do. the sheriff at the court house said main roads are spotty, but almost all side streets are impassible (for habersham and stephens county). news in atlanta is showing ramps still iced up guess i will just stay here and wait for the warm up lol

VeronicaCorningstone
Wilson County Schools closed for the day...and we've got quite a nice little sleet storm going right now. We had close to 0.5 inch of snow before the sleet started in full force. Still a few flakes mixed in, but few and far between. I would insert a picture but I'm somewhat technically impaired this early in the morning, especially when I've run out of coffee
