Woke up to everything covered in snow! It's still coming down, but mixing with freezing rain now. And it's coming down good. Have a 2 hour delay for work, but not sure if I am going to go in if it's still coming down around 10:00. WRAL already reporting accidents, and looking at the traffic cams, the major roads are even covered.

Numerous wreck reports around the Triad coming into the newsroom. Turning into a mess out there.

I wonder if it will get that bad in the Triangle. Which is why I don't get the two hour delay I have for work. If others have delays, it's just going to be worse because the roads are going to be worse two hours from now if this stuff keeps falling. I don't know why businesses here just don't close with this type of weather. It's not worth the risk to drive in it.

I did wake up to a dusting covering everything, but it appears to be a mix of sleet and freezing rain right now.... wasn't the snow supposed to hold on for a little longer? Is this the end of it?

The models were too slow with the evolution of the precip so speed up the timing up bit. Seems typical of NWP models.

Person County

Probably have about 3/4 of an inch of snow. Started snowing around 4:45-5 AM. Immediately stuck and covered everything in a sheet of white. A decent snow for most of the morning, was still coming down 15 minutes ago on my drive home. Main roads were brined well, but were starting to become covered on my commute home. Side and back roads are nothing but white and you can't even see tracks in them. Sad that it could be turning over to rain/ice...but oh well. Time for me to go to bed. I'll see what it looks like around 1 ET

Light dusting of snow here, currently light sleet and freezing rain with a temp of 29.

Anyone know if conditions west of me, say around Greensboro are improving for travel or getting worse due to changeover to the freeezing rain?

For those interested in road conditions in the triad, this link seems to be reasonably up to date with the latest traffic conditions.
