Lee
Snow began here @ 10:15 light of which became moderate for about 15 mins and then back to light. About a half inch so far. Radar shows some heavy bands getting close now so, hopefully they put down all snow as some obs well to my west and also south in the knoxville area report a mix to freezing rain. Here's a cam shot of the snow in wise. http://www.mcs.uvawise.edu/webcam/

Gastonwxman
Getting what appears to look like fine ice. Feels like snow but it sounds like sleet when it hits the surface. Band continues to strengthen to my west. Looking good so far. http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=gsp&product=N0R&loop=yes
LKN WX
It will be interesting to see if a sleet/snow line sets up for a little while before the change over.

NCSNOW
I would hit the sack, but my last glance at radar shows a nice wide batch breaking out coming from Iredell county pointed straight toward Sandhill region. I use the ntnl mossiac and you can see this is gonna be strong enough to bypass virga and reach the ground hopefully.
snowblzchance in CLT
Any obs from the Shelby area? I'm curious about what's falling in that heavier band heading toward CLT.

waltrip
Mix of mainly sleet and freezing rain/drizzle with a few flakes of snow. Temperature is 25 F. Low temperature at UT Research and Education Center this morning in Greene County was 0.8 F. At my house, recorded a low of 2.1 F. We still have many snow and ice patches on secondary roads throughout the county. This will be a huge icy mess on the roads if temperatures don't rise above freezing before sunrise. It's a mess up here right now. Salt trucks are working hard. I basically have moderate sleet/snow. Looks like a break in the radar about 100 miles to our west. Then another batch comes in. It looks like the back of the second batch will signal the end of the wintery precip. I'm guessing around 6:00 AM per the NWS, Morrristown. I saw where a school system in SW VA is set to take spring break days due to missing so many days. It's only December...
Carvers Gap
Hit 5 degrees at KTRI on 12/15/10 for a new record low. That temperature is hanging out w/ some other records from 1989. Let's hope that's not the analog at the end of this winter...
