29.5 with a dew point of 20...sleet has switched over to drizzle. This could get messy if precip keeps up (a big if).

freezing drizzle! imagine spaghetti junction later :scooter:

That would drive me nuts! Light snow in Clayton and Tiger

a few stray flakes here, but they arent all that big (unlike dawsonwx's nickel size!) i just wish some heavier precip would move in while its cold enough

Hmm, they still seem to think temps are a big issue for much of the metro. If precip holds up I know MBY will be a mess (friend just called and reported he ran into ice at a Wal Mart parking lot). We'll see though.

Yeah my steps are already really slick. It seems like they are banking alot on temps getting above freezing pretty quick.

Hmm... We've had all this cold air in place for a while now, and a low moving through the northern gulf ??? Sounds like a recipe for snow in Atlanta ??

That really doesn't mean anything. That cold air can be displaced very quickly and it will.

Had a few flurries and sleet pellets a moment ago. Looks like there is a ton of precip overhead but of course it isn't reaching the ground yet. Hopefully it will before the warm air advection turns it over to IP/FZ

It got pretty warm here today..got all the way to 40 because there was a thin strip of partly to mostly sunny skies that hanged over here for most of the day. Back down to 35 now..dp 2.

I currently have very light sleet and freezing rain, mostly freezing rain. I'm at 31.2 and falling quickly now. This could get VERY messy.

Agreed...it won't last too long with warming overnight but while it lasts the roads could get bad. Holding at 29.5 here, plants outside have visible ice on them and the driveway/street is definitely turning icy. Main roads should be fine for the near future at least, as rush hours traffic both dries and warms the roads.

the dry air here is just eating it up :( even with the heaviest echos moving over head, all i am seeing are a few flakes here and there (and small ones at that). sort of a bummer to be so close and yet so far away :snowman:

edit: ok, well i predict that the precip will begin very soon. the temp is 32.2 :drunk: dewpoint is 12 (thats up 7 from earlier this afternoon)

Winter Weather Advisory! Very interesting

that is interesting, ffc expanded the advisories - good luck to all the atl peeps, i think most of you are under an advisory :snowing::bike:

I came home to 29 degrees and a small glaze on everything including the driveway. What little snow/sleet fell earlier stuck to the grass. I finally got above freezing to 32.3 earlier. I noticed that Clark creek was frozen over even in the swift spots. Thats doesnt happen often.

Winter Weather Advisory! Very interesting

Prudent considering the situation. There are likely to be travel problems, and with general public not expecting any major issues (as this morning most people said it would be no big deal) a WWA will be the best way to get media coverage and information to the public.

The bad part is it doesn't take much of a glaze to make travel treacherous. You can see it either, just the regular road color. VERY dangerous.

It's amazing looking at the SE radar that we have anything. It just starts appearing over Alabama out of nowhere. http://www.daculaweather.com/ridge_deep_south_master.php

according to the GFS, you Georgia folks should be going back above freezing pretty soon

thats whats it been showing, but remember we are in ga, so anything frozen is a treat :scooter: we are used to getting a change over as we usually do. its about scouring out the cold...imby its 31.9 with a dewpoint of 13. the warmer air above will eventually get down, but in the meantime, at least we get some snow/sleet/frz rain

Down to 29 here, with a dew point of 22 I can probably hit 28 before I start warming back up. This steady, light drizzle is the worst (or best depending on who you are) possible way for ZR to fall as it freezes instead of running off.

lol - i am one of the unfortunate ones. i actually like all extreme wx, and rain is last on my list in winter. i'd prefer snow, but sleet or frz rain is fine by me :guitar: whats odd is that since i grew up here, sleet or snow to ice was a fairly frequent thing, so since its been over 5 years i am sort of missing a little icing event.

Be an over-achiever baby!:snowman:

I had a heavier shower and that seemed to just sit on top of the ice for a while... but its all freezing now
