The flakes were so powdery that they fit nicely in between the grass blades as opposed to sitting atop them like they typically would. Congrats on the snow in central , northern and eastern NC. You folks are having a good December. The only snow I've seen is some flurries with the arctic outbreak a few days ago for a few minutes. For us in the southern, southwest piedmont to get snow we need to get rid of this westerly/northwesterly flow stuff and get a gulf low. While northern Orange, Durham and Wake counties got upwards of 2" of snow on the 4th, I got a little under half an inch. Today about a quarter it looks like. The secondary roads had ice patches here and there, but for the most part the ride was okay. Ga 400 was no problems from Highway 53 all the way to 285. The temps were right at 32f.
