I am happy either way. It snows, I'll be happy. It torch's, I get to golf all winter. Win win!

Agree..I have two young kids who were cooped up all last winter...wouldn't mind getting out a bit this year...given that we've had a great decade of Decembers, we're due for this....so mark my words, the cold will always be 10 days away...cold shots will show up warmer and warmer on each run and storms will cut. Maybe something different post x-mas or even new year's....

KUs use to happen like every 6 years or so on avg.....but thanks to global warming and earthlight urinating on the streets of union county, the KU gap has shrunk. but lets keep it in perspective though....recent winters are still considered abnormal.

how does global warming play a role?

So what has caused the system that is providing the snow across the south land to cut off with the flow being so fast and progressive?

It was able to phase.. The exception, not the rule. I don't see any more shortwaves in the foreseeable future modeled to phase. And it's not like there's upstream blocking to give a better percentage Of it happening. Not saying it can't happen, but the odds are rather low this pattern.

also...i think Volek put up a link recently in a thread, not sure if its this one, on how the superstorm of 93 was sort of the turning point, or the beginning of.

I can live with these uggs on a beach...

I think the image reflects that fact that a well toned MJO combined with a tanned PNA leads to a very very positive and firm -NAO, leading to prolonged BOMBogenisis and a very stiff Ridge, with very well saturated lower levels...
