I think we'll get something. I think there will be some extremely cold shots of air here (mostly late January and February) and there and a few decent events.....maybe one major. But the pattern we're in now I think will stick around for a while. Temperatures will cool down, but I'm not seeing much sustained cold nor am I seeing anything close to a favorable pattern for east coast snowstorms. With this kind of pattern often-times you get the right set up for a coastal or overrunning but the air around here just isn't cold enough when it happens.

WX/PT

"Wxoutlooks" is a very good met; and I like him....one thing to bear in mind is that he is very heavily influenced by whatever the GFS says...

KABE will have their least snowy winter on record. :(

The chances of that happening are absolutely nil; they have already surpassed their 1931-32 total of 5.0 inches.

you spoiled snowlovers, how much snow does NYC average in december anyway?

the first half of dec is looking meh but the 2nd half is up for grabs. Then we have jan, feb, and march.

it doesnt snow in march anymore, and that storm in 2009 doesnt count, it started forming in February.

<b></b>LOL that's actually what I always do when I'm bored with the weather... that's usually during the spring and summertime though, when there are no hurricanes to track. Now I have a new set of posts to look through with the October 29th 2011 Snowstorm. <img src='http://208.71.34.143/public/style_emoticons/default/thumbsupsmileyanim.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<img src='http://208.71.34.143/public/style_emoticons/default/thumbsupsmileyanim.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />' /> <b></b><b></b>To possibly help to cure your bordem:<b></b><b></b>Read the 1/27/11, 1/13/11, and 3/23/11 threads to also curb yourself of your bordem. I also look on Accu WX and Tristate WX for past storms to cure my bordem. I'm glad someone also looks at past events when they're bored like me. <img src='http://208.71.34.143/public/style_emoticons/default/weight_lift.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<img src='http://208.71.34.143/public/style_emoticons/default/weight_lift.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':weight_lift:' />' /><b></b>

It's also very comical to browse through all the regional and main forums that were affected by the snowstorms and hurricanes that affected us. It's so hilarious to see many trolls and weenies bashing each other over snow ratios, omega snow growth zones, QPF, wind speeds, storm surge, wave heights, cyclone tracks pinpointed to a specific landfall at a coastal city and pressure when we were 156 hours out from the storms.

We are overdue for a good March...write it down...

Disclaimer: The quoted post does not in any way imply a good March is coming....this year, next year, or any other year....simply that we are overdue for one...;)

March has been lousy for the last 6 years, a disturbing trend - the last good March was in 2005. The records show around 15 inches of snow in March 2009 at Upton, but that was all in the first two days of the month and the remaining 29 days were entirely uneventful.

March 2007 was probably more exciting than March 2009.

I saw someone do a wind analysis on the GFS for a storm that was 180 hours out, and called the storm a dud because the winds were from the NE and not from the N. :lmao:

blizzard of 93 was a garbage storm for anyone east of the hudson valley. It went from S+ to nothing in about 5 hours and then it was over all together. I think some people switched to rain before the dry slot. It was all hype.

not everyone here is east of the hudson valley like you are

i got a solid foot from that based on pics and im only 10 miles west of manhattan

meh, that's nothing. I remember the storm well. Strong WAA out ahead gave the city about 10 inches and then the surface low tracked basically up the right side of the apps and cut if off. I was in Orange county at the time and didn't switch over to rain but the dry slot ruined what could have been 25 inch amounts.

It was a FM with no blocking and a crazy jet.

March 1993 storm does not make my top 20...snow started 7:00 AM....changed to mixed bag 2:00 PM...some rain thereafter...10.0"....as Bill Murray once noted...."It's no big deal."
