earthlight
00z nam brings around 2" of rain for a good majority of the forecast area. looks like a classic moderate rainfall event with isentropic lift increasing with waa tuesday aftn/evening and continuing through wed morning. nam also pretty enthused with bringing a line of moderate rain through early wednesday as the system passes by. for reference, the cold air to our north is bringing a snow event to our neighbors in northern new england. NYCSuburbs
All of this is coming our way, plus even more rain over the Ohio Valley... We're slowly getting closer to the record. An Upton storm report from late October shows that 65.76" fell through Oct 30 and the Central Park rain extremes shows the wettest year is 1983 with a little over 80". With the 1.02" so far this month and tonight's 2-3", this will be the second year on record, and while it's unlikely that we exceed 10" in December, we should get very close to the record. uncle W
NYC will probably see its 2nd wettest year by midnight and after this storm ends the city probably will see a second straight top ten seasonal precipitation...NYC needed 1.67" as of yesterday to put 2011 in the top ten fall rainfall...
