They always get nailed. It is our turn.

Making up for last winter, huh? I was surprised to see that State College and Boston average about the same snowfall. I was sure that Boston would average more due to latitude and better placement for coastal storms (as long as they aren't running along the coast!). Either way, a couple inches that will stick around a few days will be a nice start to winter.

Slightly off topic but SNE is having a collective mental breakdown right now...I feel bad that they likely won't get a storm out of this but at least we tend to have class!

I don't.

They have some great mets, but I could never deal with many of the regular posters and their attitudes during the winter...it's bad.

I'm keeping my expectations pretty low with this upcoming storm, at least until 00z this evening...too many things can still go wrong. I am expecting at least a light accumulation, anything else will be a bonus at this point.

Central PA thread > New England....even when some of us whine, we can offer a complaint thread and overall, I like everyone here.

Back to weather, looks like the GFS is a bit warmer, no?

850 temps to me seem a bit too high. The precip is falling hard and I think it would cool off quicker. First run of GFS getting the precip where it needs to be. Lets see if it cools off in later runs.

Wow JB is going hard! :sled:

Essentially, he has 3 inches from just N/W of DC northeast to just N/W of Philly to NYC to BOS, back to like Pittsburgh on northeast. Inside that is a 6-12 inch band from northeastern KY through WV south-central PA, lower susquehanna valley, poconos, southern New England into Maine. Inside that band is up to 12+" in the moutains of WV, MD, and southern PA, and picks up again in the Poconos through upstate NY and western Mass.

My ex-wife is from Ridgway, I'd say you're incorrect about parts of 7 - they often do pretty well in lake effect. Elk County isn't exactly a snow desert.

Same with zone 9, especially western half. Meadville sometimes does better than Erie for snow. They average 70 inches of snow. You tell someone in southern Crawford County they don't get lake effect and they'd pat you on the head and say "You're cute, kid."

Yes I probably could of extented the line south of Crawford County, I realise they get Lake Effect snow but not as much as the places I outlined, they only cash in on NW events. Plus Crawford County doesn't do well in CAD events thus is why I put them in the region I did. Elk County is another boardline county that I prob could fix but In general isn't that great for snow compared to the surrounding areas. They miss most "heavy" lake effect events and don't get Nor Easters, they totally rely on CAD and Ohio Valley runners for most of their snow. In general my map is pretty darn close to how everything sets up and I will make a touch of adjustments to what you said but in general everything is realistic.
