It was a joke and frusteration lol. didn't mean it literally. I know their just tools and to not look for verbatim outputs. Just want to see some snow for once! Gimme one 1'+ storm and I wouldnt care if I didnt see a flake the rest of the season.

Yeah, I know....and the 12z GFS (if one takes such output too literally) is a punch in the gut....little cold air, LES is minimal compared to the past few runs, and a new threat/phase actually gets strung out to the south and screws everyone, leaving behind a nice, moderate, blah, pacific airmass to re-flood the country on a zonal flow in 8 days!

This winter sucks! But I bet we get a memerable storm by the end of it!! :)

I was on the phone with my dad (lives close to Mike in Etobicoke) and we couldn't believe how he was experiencing spring like temps (50f) whil it was snowing and 14f here. Good ol' Ottawa! :snowing:

Ottawa North - Kanata - Orléans

1:08 PM EST Saturday 07 January 2012

Freezing rain warning for

Ottawa North - Kanata - Orléans continued

Periods of freezing rain this morning.

An area of patchy freezing rain and freezing drizzle has developed over far Eastern Ontario early this morning. Commuters should use extra caution as roads and sidewalks may become icy. The freezing rain is expected to come to an end early this afternoon

THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY WITH -12 TO -14C AIR AT 850 HPA PASSING

OVER BOTH LAKES BEHIND THE UPPER LEVEL TROUGH FROM NORTHERN CANADA...LAKE

EFFECT SNOW WILL THEN BECOME A CONCERN. THE 12Z ECMWF HANGS THE

UPPER LEVEL CUT OFF LOW BACK FURTHER TO THE WEST WHICH WOULD SUPPORT

MORE OF A SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW...WHILE THE GFS IS MORE PROGRESSIVE

WITH THE UPPER LEVEL LOW AND PLACES IT OVER NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND

FRIDAY MORNING WHICH WOULD SUPPORT MORE OF A NORTHWESTERLY FLOW.

WILL JUST USE CHC WORDING FOR NOW...AND CREATE A MORE DETAILED

FORECAST AS WE DRAW CLOSER TO THE EVENT AND UNCERTAINTY DIMINISHES

I was in Western NY for the last three days and Fri and Sat were ridiculously mild. What snow they had in the lake belts was quickly olbiterated.

I noted that Naples in far southern Ontario County had around four inches remaining from the Lake Erie stuff Thursday night ...long gone now I'm sure.

Yeah, it's incredible. I mean, we all know that Ottawa's winters are a lot colder and snowier than Toronto's, but this is simply amazing. Incredible natural phenomena!

New Euro continues to show amazing band of LES in Metro and points just south for 24+ hours Thursday Night into Friday. The continuity from run to run makes me get somewhat excited for that timeframe...

Newest Runs of CMC also show this LES potential. Just need to get the GFS on board, and the NAM once its in the timeframe.

ANOTHER STORM SYSTEM IS TAKING A SOUTHWARD TRACK ACROSS THE FOUR

CORNERS TODAY AND WILL MOVE EAST INTO TEXAS ON MONDAY BRINGING

PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW TO SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO AND PARTS OF WEST

TEXAS. SNOW WILL INITIALLY DEVELOP IN THE FAR WEST TONIGHT THEN

SPREAD EAST MONDAY MORNING INTO THE PERMIAN BASIN AND WESTERN LOW

ROLLING PLAINS. INITIALLY RAIN AND SNOW WILL BE MIXED BUT A

TRANSITION TO SNOW WILL QUICKLY OCCUR. THE SOUTHERLY TRACK OF THE

LOW...THE ASSOCIATED LIFT...AND UNSEASONAL HIGH AMOUNTS OF ATMOSPHERIC

MOISTURE SUGGEST THAT HEAVY SNOW WILL OCCUR. SNOWFALL RATES OF 2

TO 4 INCHES AN HOUR WILL BE POSSIBLE IN SOME OF THE MORE INTENSE

SNOWFALL BANDS. WIDESPREAD SNOW TOTALS OF 5 TO 7 INCHES AND EVEN

HIGHER LOCAL AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED

Really Texas??

It fails to mention those rates will only be realized in 5 minute spurts, still impressive though. I'm jealous.
