aldie 22
So it looks like 10 of the 48 years were above average at both IAD and the Minneapolis reporting station at the same time....and I guess according to IAN only 1 was a NINA which was 95-96 and the strength of that one was much weaker than this one. Give me a list of NINA years since 62-63 and I will compare those winters.

trapperman
It is certainly brutal here. Stopped snowing but it doesn't matter much. Ground blizzard now. I have drifts close to 6 feet around the house. Snow piled halfway up the front door when last opened it. The Halloween blizzard was a lot of snow but not a heck of a lot of blowing like this. What is amazing is this is powder, and we still have ridiculous accumulations. Really can't remember one like this. For reference, the roof of the hot house by the kids there is 6 feet high. I'm a little concerned about your kids playing near a hot house. Back in the army we payed for certain services at places called hot houses. Feb
This one gives a good image of the kind of winds we have... Beautiful powder. I was checking the obs from up there over at accuweather. One of the stations was reporting heavy snow, visibilities 0 miles, temp of 7 and winds NW at 31 MPH.
