baroclinic_instability
impressive band from eastern SD to northern MN currently. Pretty much what we expected, a narrow frontal band, but it is putting out some nice rates. Quite a few moderate snow reports out there.

baroclinic_instability
Nice Prinsburg! Definitely some nice low level banding right over the cities. Sounds like there have been quite a few spinouts across the cities...a family member told me it is coming down hard under that band.

baroclinic_instability
oh my...so jealous of all the snow!!! congrats guys!!! winter in full force! Yeah a nice event. Some areas across the cities will see barely anything. Under that low level frontal band, however, there will be some 4-6" amounts I bet. Right now that band is situated directly over MPLS/St Paul as well as the airport in southern MN in Bloomington. My hometown is getting hit nice in Shakopee too. baroclinic_instability
I didn't report the Prinsburg total...i think the guy that runs the convenience store in town reports to the NWS. Had our first below 0 temp early this morning, -2. Baro, you see any potential for next weekend with the big trough moving through? I am not terribly interested in it as a major winter threat for the plains at the moment. Guidance has been pretty indicative of the cold air pushing across the high plains. Nature of the wave tilt and the lack of any arctic air seems to suggest most amplification will occur too far S once the front interacts with the GOM air. Basically a case of a strong upper level front without a reinforcing low level baro zone.
