Yes, now we can dread the next 3 weeks of a horrific pattern.

I know... not looking forward to it, but it will eventually be early December. I think Thanksgiving right in the middle of the stretch will make this dreadful pattern fly by

Daytime marginal systems in mid Novie anafrontal rarely produce. Now I am more bullish on next week. Could be an interesting weekend set of model runs. New Moon

Same with me.... The 18z GFS was so much more relaxed with the amplication and phase of the system which led to less dynamic cooling. You can really see it comparing hr 168 versus hr 162

Huh... I just went through the entire 30 years of data at the CDC's stratosphere, troposphere monitoring site, and this is the only year so far that shows 0, nadda, zilch, as far as thermal permutations amid the polar field for the time between October 15 and November 15. Typically, we begin to see small packets of cold and hot anomalies - most don't propagate or mean much to correlation, but they are there shortly after Oct 1 any given year.. There may be better more discrete analysis out there, but there's shows a pattern utterly devoid of change - it's like summer still.

What that means ... i have no idea. but odd to see that nonetheless.

john, do you have a link?

thanks in advance.

At least the SREFs come out soon...waiting until 940pm was brutal. Maybe they will increase the chance at a coating tomorrow night. It would be nice to see a period of steady snow amidst this crap pattern.

Its kind of amazing that we have a shot at snow tomorrow. I was into work yesterday with a short sleeve t-shirt yesterday. Its like climo is pushing against this crappy pattern right now.

If we are able to get another period of steady snow in SNE pre-Thanksgiving....we can't complain. I know it's going to be ugly for at least another 3-4 weeks but at least we can hope for a few shots.

Our weather next week?

Last year in Mid Dec they were -30 for a week, three weeks later was our Epic stretch. Funny he mentioned that our weather usually follows his within a month, modified greatly of course. He did say the 9 inches they have on the ground is like sand, drive right on top of it and impossible to plow. His accounts are always cool to listen to, says he watched the airmass change last week after the Bering sea monster. Watched it come in off the MTns , says the forecasters out there are more lively than usual stressing how cold the next ten days will be.

Just got off the phone with the Talkeetna gang. They're freezin' their azzes off with 36+" OTG on the valley floor and bottomless higher up. I've been following the weather there for years and this is impressive early season cold. People are going to be hurtin' here when the cold hammer drops. I can't wait.
