Indystorm
Well, when you now have a tor watch for this evening in central Mississippi with temps there at 70 and dews in the 50's I can only expect the snow side of the storm to be intense and exciting as well per moisture and dynamics. Thundersnow12
finally home from getting our xmas tree up in Harvard, started raining on our way home and flakes have been trying to mix in here. still worried about the dry slot later. pretty impressive with DBQ getting 2" already. WxMidwest
Doesn't look like it per radar....strong moisture fetch into our storm. WV loop impressive. Usually you need a pretty decent sized sqauline/TS complex in order to cut the flow of moisture off to the Cold end of the Precip.... I think the strength/dynamics/moist transit isn't a problem with this one...
turtlehurricane
MSN officially has snow mixing with rain in their 4 pm ob. About 50/50 now with the temp at 1.2 °C on top of the met building. 0.14" of rain in the past hour, snow rates are about to be sweet.
OceanStWx
any concern that severe strong storms hamper moisture feed further north? I mentioned this last winter on the old message board, but studies have shown that it depends on the orientation of the convection. The convection can create an internal potential vorticity anomaly (which induces a counter-clockwise circulation in the atmosphere). If the convection is oriented north-south, that can increase the moisture transport by way of strengthening in the LLJ. If the convection is more southwest-northeast in nature, that can shunt the moisture away from the def zone/trowal features.

turtlehurricane
Almost all snow in downtown Madison, not surprising with the temp being 1.0 °C on top of the met building. Heavy band of snow associated with edge of dry slot is about to come in, but I have a feeling we're in the perfect spot to stay out of the dry slot but in the best snow. We shall see
