cyclone77
OK I'm venting! I have spent 5 days that I will never get back tracking this storm. Do i feel obsessive, just a little?! It's been one big disappoinment so far. It is snowing, but it's sinking south so fast it will end shortly. Idk why I do this every year. You'd think as I got older, I'd learn.... Bitter Betty rant over..... Haha! I hear ya man. Same thing here, been tracking it for days and days, looked like a shoe-in for blizzard conditions. The end result was meager at best. Even though we missed the storm, it was still a fun one to track right up to the end. The large and dynamic systems always seem to under perform around here. Even though we'll likely get screwed on the next big system, I will have long forgotten this one and will be tracking it until the last second. weatherbo
A snow event's minimum wage down here seems to be 20 hours per inch of snow. Yeah and for whatever reason today, I'm snapping.... lack of sleep, IDK...
on_wx
It looks like heavy snow here.. but it's really not accumulating.
ArmyGreens
Working on 2 inches here since it changed over around 6 this Am---I see there is a new band forming to the Southwest and moving this way..... What are the roads like there? We were thinking of driving to the base to do some shopping today.
outflow
slop out here right now, around an inch of so of slush with a temp around 32. the roads are a wreck with slush and standing water. Waiting for the temp crash and winds later along with better snow.
KeenerWx
Yeah and for whatever reason today, I'm snapping.... lack of sleep, IDK... I feel you.. Hopefully you get treated well, though. In all honesty, I'm looking for about 1-2" of snow from the tail end of this system.

goknights
Daddy I would say very iffy even the main roads are really bad especially out of the valleys. I heard 76 near houston is closed
A-L-E-K
Conditions are pretty wild, moderate snow and geat winds, i can only imagine things get even better when the main band pivots through later and we get a better fetch. Missing out on big accums sucks but this is an enjoyable consolation prize.

In all honesty, I'm looking for about 1-2" of snow from the tail end of this system. I am too actually, but when IWX (much respect for them btw) waves 10-20, then today 8-14" for a storm total, in your forecast for 2 days, it's a huge let down when it looks like it wont materialize. nature of the game I suppose, but I know everyone on here has been there before, so I'm in good company... Organizing Low
dome override FTW so is it going to be actively snowing during the bears game? i feel like it will be stopped by then, but perhaps lake enhancement or something? can anyone give me a quick thought on that? Chicago WX
Thanks, you've been one of the classier folks in this thread. Hope you get a dumping too. I'm a spread the wealth kind of guy. Thanks for the well wishes, though I'm afraid we're going to struggle to get to an inch total when all is said and done.

It looks like the synoptic snow will be beginning to wind down at game time, but some lake enhanced bands may still be going. If the new 15z RUC is to be believed, it could be snowing moderate to heavily at the start of the game...

My best guess is there will still be snow falling in the first half. Soldier Field is on the lakefront, so at that point it's probably LE/LES. It will be close, i think the main band to the west from PIA to RFD will probably weaken as it accelerates east. Lake enhancement is a real possibility so close to the lake. I'd say flakes will be flying, intensity probably light.

Natester
I would say I got about 2 inches of new snow last night although it was really windy. I slept through the worst of the winds though.

FWIW, the 13z HRRR shows some pretty decent LE bands very close to where Soldier Field (I think) is at 4pm local time...
Organizing Low
about an inch down here in montreal, still snowing vis 1/2mile temp now at -1.6C and rising (up 1C in past hour) waiting for the changeover

michsnowfreak
DTW has been at or below 1/2 mile visib for 3 hours. Been snowing very nice. The ONLY complaint could be that its such a wet snow, but on the flip side its very scenic and will be a nice base of snowpack.

Maybe it will be a "pulsing" type band as it swings east...especially when/if the lake gets involved. But yeah my hopes for any accumulation are dwindling quickly.
