LVblizzard
If anyone noticed, the models have been trying to trend the Wednesday storm closer to the coast. Looks like they're just trolling us, though...it would take a miracle bigger than Jan. 2000 to get this back to the coast. Right now, it's a few hundred miles off the coast. noctilucent
For the first time in 15 years, I went GOLFING on New Year's Eve. (85 @ Fairways in Warrington, not a long course, so don't make too much of the score). Happy 2012 to everyone. If you're discouraged by an "off" year for snow, don't be. By 2015, we'll be used to it! mattinpa
GFS still has multiple storm opportunities with cold air. earthlight has a good writeup in the NYC forum on the Jan. 9 possibility.
noctilucent
Why do you say this? Ray....c'mon man! Because I think we may be in for a few lean snow years. I've lived through it a number of times before. Hey, we just had a record long -NAO regime. That's probably going to readjust. And, throw in a strong El Nino in there somewhere. 2012-2015 being lean snow years sounds good to me. Its a banter thread...I don't need scientific reasoning (as if that has worked!). Getting ready to watch the Winter Classic.
blizzardmeiser
The upcoming pattern is better than it has been and will at least give us opportunities for mischief GFS still has multiple storm opportunities with cold air. earthlight has a good writeup in the NYC forum on the Jan. 9 possibility. JTA66
Temp up to 38. I was just outside taking down some Christmas lights; at least it feels like winter with the gusty wind. I just wish this arctic front was the set up for a storm in a few days, but as Tony noted, all it will probably accomplish is jacking up the heating bill. Harbourton
Very feeble arctic outbreak with International Falls MN at -5 currently. Should be about -25 for a good cold blast this time of year up there. Plus no -50s showing up yet in upper Canada which would support a potential vodka blast down here.
