Can't forget about the 1991 Minnesota Halloween blizzard.

My co-favorite with Feb 2010, but doesn't belong on the list.

The more I think about it, the more I think it has to be one of the heat waves back in the dust bowl days. Didn't they last a few years?

How about the Dust Bowl as a catch-all?

From my own personal experience it is definitely the 12/9/05 bomb as it exploded over Cape Cod Bay, was such an amazing experience going from drizzle to thundersnow and not being able to see 10 feet in front of you with Cloud to Ground lightning strikes all around in about 5 mins time. But from a purely meteorology standpoint you have to take a hard look at the Perfect Storm, just something that probably won't be seen again.

The Great Snow of 1717. 3 to 4 feet from NYC to Boston. The great snow

I choose this because it could and will happen again and the effects would be crippling. Imagine if Boxing Day 2010 storm was just 6hrs slower? Or if 850 temps on the rain event were 2 degrees colder just a day before Central park picked up 20" in late Feb 2010? Or if the Jan 2004 Atlantic triple phaser was 100 to 150 miles more west? It can and will happen again.

I voted other because Hurricane Donna wasn't on the list to name a few...I would have to go with a tornado outbreak or destructive storm...If you break it down into seasons mine would be snowfalls in winter...Tornados in the Spring..heat in the Summer...Hurricanes in the fall...Floods could come in any season...We saw that this Summer...The blizzard of 1888 is the benchmark for blizzards...This year, 1974 and 1925 for tornado outbreaks...1936 and 1995 for heat to name a few...Hurricane Katrina for recent Hurricanes...
