Thread deleted

Recommended Posts

I PMed the admins a week ago about this and have still not gotten a response so I'm posting a thread here.

About a week ago the thread "New weather model site and app" was deleted. The admins had previously approved the thread, and had even brought it back after a prior deletion by a moderator, so would an admin please bring it back again? Thanks.

It would be kind of nice to have an OT subforum that's called something like "Weather Marketplace" or whatever where products like this can be posted. I would like that. It would be helpful for both the vendors and the members.

Who cares what the motives are? If mods said it was ok to post the thread, and he followed all the rules they may have given him to post the thread, but it still got deleted anyways, that brings up questions of why it was deleted. Especially when he tried to do it behind closed doors through PM for a week. Its not like he's force-feeding any kind of product through ads on here. Don't like a thread?? Don't read it.

39 of your posts are in the deleted thread and you haven't posted in a different thread in a month and a half. When you have that kind of post breakdown and you're linked to a site that makes money, motives are a little questionable.

Joe Jurecka has a thread (actually two, but one was started by another user), and he has never made even one post outside of threads about his app.

Actually it was admins, not mods, that approved my thread. I believe it was a moderator who deleted it.

He might not be forcing it, but he has a minion running around doing so.

I think that's a fair idea. I'll see what we can do.

A good idea would be Model/Product Discussion: Discuss weather-related websites, companies, and products; and general aspects of weather models here.

Definitely... the thread badmouthing Accuweather was a bit annoying to see in with discussions of weather phenomena... in fact, I think the current subforum for "Weather Forecasting and Discussion" should be the one with the restrictions, having it only be for discussion of SPECIFIC STORMS, SPECIFIC SEASONS (such as winter forecasts), or WEATHER PHENOMENA IN GENERAL (such as the Ask a Pro Met thread)... discussions about NWS procedures, specific meteorologists, colleges, "which model is the best", "where can I find these models", websites, apps, home weather stations, etc. should be in a fifth subforum to WFaD called "Other Weather Discussion"

I going to remind the staff here to enforce the idea of ...

...no signatures nor thread messages that promote a product.

The Board/Forum is not here to provide gratis advertising.

If a product has merit, advertising is available at the top right;

My comments are in no way intended to critique the merit or lack of merit

for the product mentioned by the opening poster.

I don't see how "advertising" a product, especially something like this is bad. What harm is it causing. We all here love weather and I bet just about everyone, or a high percentage of people are always looking for different model sites to look at. This is a weather board for crying out loud, if someone has came up with a place to view models why not post about it here? I don't see what the trouble is.

Is it against the forum rules? If not let people promote themselves
