Decided to take the trip to Avery and Im typing from Beech Ski Patrol room right now. Down right nasty up here. 20mph winds, blowing snow, moderate snow, 4 degrees, and about 2-3" everywhere. About to take a run with the ski patrol and pics will follow soon. Glad to see most everyone got in on the snow! Sorry to brag but its once a year I can do such a thing! So for those of you scoring at home... just north of Marietta, is where the "dusting line" seems to start. At least by my observation. Flurries flying the whole way... even now. Still flurries and 17F in Canton/Ball Ground. 20F when i left A'ville. Only a slight dusting at the house, a little better here in N. Cherokee. neatlburbwthrguy Posted December 13, 2010 Share Posted December 13, 2010 some of you Georgia folks have had almost 24 hours of light snow now? yes true but in most cases it was flurries outside of a few heavier snow showers. still some flurries in the air this morning. other than the higher elevations in the mountains, most didnt get more than a dusting. hopefully we see more snow in north atlanta wed night but something tells me it maybe too warm... Hard to get an accurate measurement due to the excessive winds that howled all night and are still going. Temp is 14 and chills have been running 0 to -5 all morning. I did get 1.25 inches of snow overnight. I didn't stay up to watch it, because, as Joe pointed out, once you hit 50 the spirit may still be willing but the body is definitely weak! Whoever said "youth is wasted on the young" really knew what they were talking about. The road in front of my house is completely white. I heard that Morristown is a real mess. At first I thought I was seeing things but I went outside to make sure and sure enough, under clear sunny skies, snow flakes are coming down! Nothing heaving just some large novelty flakes.
