I recorded a 30.7 in this last outbreak of cold here. 54.0 now, blue skies trying to break through. Lots of rain earlier in the morning and early this afternoon. If it gets below freezing tonight, those puddles will melt and become ice. That could be a huge threat here tomorrow morning.

Awesome shot ! I think I am one of the few NC posters east of the mountains who wants to bother opening this thread today LOL.

LOL.

45 and overcast here. Nice warmup this afternoon ahead of the front. Looks like temps will be crashing later on based on what you guys are experiencing upstream. The cold front looks like it's getting close.

RAH giving some hope to those north of 40 west of 85 (leaves me out)

AS THE MID-LEVEL COLD CORE (-30C) MOVES ACROSS THE AREA...MODELS ARE

ALIKE IN SHOWING SUFFICIENT DYNAMICAL COOLING AND MOISTENING IN THE

DENDRITIC GROWTH ZONE OF -10 TO -20C TO OVERCOME THE ONSET OF LOW

LEVEL DRY ADVECTION TO SUPPORT FLURRIES AND/OR SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS

NORTHERN THIRD... MAINLY ALONG AND NORTH OF THE I-40/85 CORRIDORS.

IR IMAGERY ALONG WITH UPSTREAM OBSERVATIONS DEFINITELY SHOWS

ADEQUATE MID-LEVEL MOISTURE SURGING SOUTHEAST IN THE COMMA HEAD

PRECIP BAND...WITH SNOW BEING REPORTED IN EASTERN TN/UPSTATE AL AND

UPSTATE GA...INCLUDING ATLANTA. SNOW COULD BEGIN IN THE WESTERN

PIEDMONT AS EARLY AS 6 TO 7 PM...WITH THE SNOW/PRECIP BAND SHIFTING

EAST ACROSS THE NORTHERN PIEDMONT AND NORTHERN COASTAL PLAIN BY 06

TO 09Z. MODEL AVERAGE QPF IS AROUND 0.03"...SO DO NOT EXPECT

SNOWFALL AMOUNTS TO BE HIGH ENOUGH OVER TO WARRANT AN

ADVISORY...BUT...AS IS ALWAYS THE CASE WITH SUCH A DYNAMIC AND

POWERFUL SYSTEM...A SMALL MESOSCALE COULD PRODUCE A VERY LOCALIZED

DUSTING ACROSS THE NORTHERN PIEDMONT. STRONG COLD ADVECTION

OVERNIGHT HAS 1000-850MB THICKNESSES CRASHING TO NEAR 1273M.

OVERNIGHT LOWS 25 TO 30.

Nashville is getting pounded, and all of eastern Tennessee is about to reap the benefits of the vortmax charging around the backside of the 5H system. Great setup for central and eastern Tenn the next several hours, looks like it will get into northeast Alabama and northern Ga as well, with steady moderate to heavy snow at times.

NASHVILLE SNOW 24 19 81 W10G20 29.69S VSB 1/2 WCI 14

You can see the infrared spinning, perfect to nail Tennessee.

Foothills, know that we are worried about downslope in our Area, but with dynamics and southwest approach we may be able to squeeze sumthin'!

Super weenie question...by N GA do you mean the far northern fringe/mountains or will us folks in the lowlands north of 20 "reap the benefits" as well?

NWS is being a bit bold with their statement for my area:

Late Afternoon: A slight chance of rain showers before 5pm, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 47. West wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: A slight chance of snow showers before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. West wind around 9 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Earlier they said a few flurries...:arrowhead:

Looks like there will be some flakes making a quick escape either early tomorrow morning or midday in NC, could be about anywhere, and they won't last long at all.

From that lift, nw GA would catch it more than anywhere south of there. But good snow showers continue all day in the rest of ATL area.
