apparently the sleet here last night was coming down fast and furious about 3 AM according to neighbors. wish i had heard it to get up and look lol

I was looking at weather station log this morning and my rain gauge stopped tipping about that time so I bet the precip turned to sleet under the heaviest returns.

Does your radar update/refresh automatically? I hope cause it's looking like some echos moving into Oconee now.

Yes, all the Google Map NEXRAD radars I have automatically update. You'll notice that the loop might hesitate or slow down sometimes. It's retrieving new images when you see that happening. I've left them up overnight and they'll be right where they should be in the morning.

too bad i wimped out when the sleet turned to rain, or i might have seen it. with the amount on the roofs and grass this morning at 9 it must have been really coming down.

highest wind gust so far is 34. add in the snow and cold and wow, what a day

28F and light to moderate snow coming down now although we had a burst there for a few minutes that was pretty significant.

Took a drive around town and am noticing something odd: DOT has treated NONE of the roads with any sort of salt or gravel. They have scraped some of the primary roads, but no treatment. I can't help but think that tonight many of the primary roads, which are almost all soaking/slushing wet are going to turn into skating rinks. There are already a few cars here and there that have spun out:

Awesome shot ! I think I am one of the few NC posters east of the mountains who wants to bother opening this thread today LOL.

well i have to admit I've been enjoying my rain. Got a nice dousing last night and early morning and since then 2 moderate showers. Any precip is good here! Temp is still 45. You and I both may hour our wintry wx come Thursday morning. And then of course you'll probably get your birthday blizzard while I'm sitting too far west.:yikes:

hahah I am not banking on anything this weekend. It could still be a double whammy. Way too far off to have confidence.

Impressive indeed. Went from 46 to 33 in 2 hours with some nice flurries.

Glad to see you're getting in on this too. Send them right up 85 thanks. The radar looks good there with all the west to east movement. Temps here are taking forever to go down, but the cold air is having to wrap in from the southwest.

Got a little sleet/snow rain mix off the echo in the county now. Very light.

Panthers TD!

I was wondering what that was dropping over your area. Aloft its probably cold enough now, but our low level cold is taking a while to get in here on the southwest winds.

Finally can report steady flurries!!:snowman:
