Just checked the board and was right 4 inches. Still some light snow but looks to be winding down per radar. Temp is starting drop after a spike of 30.8 at about 8 this morning. Now down to 28.6. No real wind to speak of yet.

This looks like a 3 part event for you , instead of the usual 2. The overnight snow, and then todays snow coming with the 5h feature , which should be a good hit, then your biggest part comes tonight or early Tomorrow morning when the snowguns are turned on. The streamers could be unbroken at times from lake Michigan, off and on for 24 to 36 hours.

First of all congrats to all in the mountains who got some snow last night! Hopefully the wrap around can over perform and hit those who missed out and those in NC. I got some ice pellets here. Sorta looks like a snow/sleet mix? 36.5 and starting to drop! The pine trees are really moving in the wind. Will let y'all know when I see a real flake :scooter:

Yep! And round 2 is approaching. Too bad some of the first snow melted...

You're going to love the flow snow. When it gets really cranking head up 26 to Sam's gap. There is a great overlook right on top where you can park and get out. There are picnic tables, little trails and an elevated platform. This is only about 15 miles up the interstate from you. Enjoy!

WOuld be nice, but I cannot hold my breathe that long :)

Sitting at 37 and waiting the drop in temps!!

Great obs today folks!!!

I just looked at the nam, it has tremendous downslope over us for this event, but theres so much moisture we may get a few flakes, or they could skip us and redevelop around SC and central NC. Either way, it would be nice to see some flakes here, but I'm just going to live vicariously through the Tenn and NC obs for the upslope. The upslope kicks in right as the ULL feature is moving out tonight, so the mountains are going to get a tremendous upslope from this one, a lot more than I originally thought.

Also, still like our areas snow to sleet to ZR event by Thursday morning.

OK I have pretty regular 2" on my 'board' (kids trampoline) and I'd measured 1.75" last night before I went to bed at 3am just BEFORE the heavy stuff started, so I feel pretty confident in (with as little weenie as possible) estimating 4-5" total last night before the rain killed my accum. My driveway is basically a slush lake 3" deep.

Light flurries again, for now, but the temps have me concerned, as I'm already slightly over my progged high. Looks like the really cold air it just on the other side of Knoxville, right now, so maybe it will slide on in here shortly. Another wave of moisture is sitting over middle TN, which makes things interesting if it can make it this far.

Frankly if things cool off like they're saying tomorrow, and the scraper trucks don't make it up here today, the roads in the morning are going to be literal sheets of ice. They're basically slush-pits right now.

are you contracted in Tenn or w. NC in the mountains. Between Cookesville to Tricities and then the NC high country are about to get hit hard for a couple of days. Probably good plowing esp. in Ne Tenn. Northern Va isn't getting too much from this.

Temps are still steady on the NE side of Atlanta, I'm at 41.4 and actually rising a little bit. Baro is 29.56 and still falling, it's the lowest it's been all month. Winds are starting to pickup out of the NW and the humidity if falling about 7%/hr.

EDIT: Just starting sleeting in Dacula and temp has started to fall. Winds picking up even more now

On a side note, I just got my upper air soundings page finished, let me know what you think!

Don't worry about the temps, mine are crashing. Yours will shortly. Down to 34, I might get to freezing around noon at this rate

I've gotten an unofficial report from Balsam Mountain (near the preserve localyokal) of 5-6" which wouldn't surprise me at all. Temps up there are still sub freezing, and i expect they never switched over to rain at that elevation.

I would agree with that completely seeing how rainforrest in Toxaway got 5" as well. Im about to make a trip to Avery County in a few hours. Im so torn between staying around to see snow in Jackson (which seems rare now a days) or go and play in a Blizzard. Choice, choices, but o what good choices to have.

I would go. The snow will still be there when you get back.:snowman:

Really dark out there right now, no signs of downslope with completely cloudy skies. Very convective look to the clouds..almost look likes it's going to come a t-shower lol. Still mild though here, 44. Indeed, the shower activity near atlanta shouldn't have many problems arriving here with south of west flow for the time being. Too warm for snow though until after 18z.

36 in atlanta right now so hopefully temps start dropping soon.
